sorry if there's already a thread on this

my tool.exe doesn't work neither does my tool++ tool.exe closes when I open it already did the thing with cmd.exe and another download I found had a shortcut to tool but still closes

tool++ when I type (whatever I saw on the tutorial) it just opens another tool++ and nothing happens

and uhh this is in the debug text document thing

That's pretty messed up.

I had a few problems with tool++ a while back and it turned out to be the directory I had it set to... I had it set to somewhere in C:\ when it was in D:\.

I'd suggest trying to reinstall HEK and making sure tool++ is directed to the right directory.

If all else fails you can open cmd in Run, guide it to the HCE directory (IE "CD c:\program files\games\halo custom edition" or whatever) and typing tool.exe. It'll give you a list of options.

Honestly though I'd suggest trying to get tool++ to work.

none of those are errors.

tool will allways tell you it cant find toolbeta, guerillabeta and sapienbeta.map

the sapien errors i'm not familiar with, does sapien work for you?

i can prettymuch guarantee you from hat you told here, that tool isn't broken, you're just doing it wrong.

Try running sapien in compatibility mode for windows 98 - If I remember correctly that error is caused by some dual core CPU's.

oh yeah, start up sapien, till it prompt you to open a scenario, then hit alt-ctrl-delete, and find the sapien process, set affinity to 1 core only, then open up your scenario.

that should take care of that error.

I did that and something pops up and closes the instant it does

and I pretty much knew I did something wrong just want to know what (though this proves the tutorials weren't very helpful)

You clicked on tool.exe, didn't you? If you click on tool itself, it will do that. If you use cmd, it won't.
Also, do you have admin rights to your computer?

I got tool++ to work I think

the part about

in the tutorial the part about Guerilla is what i have trouble with can't open the file like the way the guy did on the tutorial and theres something about setting up my working directory

i said this before.

you need to doubleclick the executable in your CE folder. it doesnt work with shortcuts, and your tag needs to be set in the tags folder-hirarcy

it was part of a tutorial ,the part with guerilla, I couldn't seem to do,it's the Gmax beginner tutorial or something I got off halo maps.org
