This most likely won't change a damn thing, and you know that.

I was under the assumption that the discovery of the RIAA illegally destroying internet databases and hiring hackers to do illegal work for them was going to be the end of the RIAA. Or at least bankrupt them.

You'd think so, and even if that happens, another bullshit government agency is going to take its place.

It's only legal if you're using it for archival purposes. Any other use is illegal under United States copyright law, so I don't see why that's bullshit.

Whoops, forgot the other link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/28/AR2007122800693.html

...the industry maintains that it is illegal for someone who has legally purchased a CD to transfer that music into his computer.

I don't get why we have WMP or other software having the option to Rip music out of CDs...

Oh wait, if you made your own of course...

WMP has a ripping software on it because Microsoft itself rips files from other places... :v .

Also, *chills in USA where computer parts are easier to find than in Canada*

That is not what I meant, and even if they are, I do not own a single one, nor is there one present in my home (surprise!). Now leave that to its respective thread.

Back on topic, even with all those laws floating around, the odds of getting caught are almost nil, and said laws are also very hard to enforce with the right to privacy etc. laws present. The MPAA and RIAA are simply capitalism made manifest into the legal system.

I don't have any problems getting the computer parts I want. No problems here. Hell when I order from Memory Express, I can usually have the parts I want delivered right to my door in under a week, usually two days.

I win.
