Formerly known as EVO and will remain codenamed as evo, i thought of giving you all a treat for new years--but just enough to show you guys that this isnt dead. At the moment i've been busy with work and school so evo has been on the backburner. This may seem to be an SVC project--but i promise you that i have never once thought of dropping this project--but to raise the bar to a more challenging goal. Im sadistic in the sense that i like harder goals, (ask conscars, i like pain ;) ).

I personally am learning and 'levelling up' so to say quite quickly--so usually ill go back and rework something. But recently, i've been reaching a peak with my modelling that i can start to work on my workflow instead of wrangling with the tool so that i can unwrap as i model, and then quickly move into photoshop and texture to complete it much more quickly than before.

What this means is that i'm a lot more comfortable with my art and i can show it with confidence that in two months i wont look back and say "what the crap is that?"

Well, i've been talking about the art for this entire passage with no news on the engine that it will all take place on. To tell you the truth, every engine ive found has elements that i like, but none really have enough of the elements that i want to really make a choice. We'll see what happens there, but in the meantime im going to create a LOT of geometry and assets. Here are a few pretties, and a few old things in case you missed it first time round.

LOL at all the people who didn't take "I'm not finished with the gun yet" as an answer when saying it had problems and continued to bring them up.

I still say your circle sign is too low poly. It really stands out with those hard edges compared to the others. Pitty you haven't had a chance to take the atv-thing past the initial design and pretty it up. I'm looking forward to that, but make your modeling/UVW tutorial first :p.

I didn't know they made snipers with giant rhinestones on them D:

Anyway those models looks very good. The rendering of the signs was epic. The gun looks very nice. Though I don't like your storm drain.

I think you weren't awake when you made this post. The 'rhinestones' are there to create the effect of depth on those parts when i render the normalmap, and the gutter/street thing is just a pretty render scene thing that i modeled quickly--and it's just for show. But i'm going to save that picture and model stormgutters something like that from now on, because i like how those look. Nice find.

How is it low poly? it doesnt need polies, because when you go over it with a bitmap you wont need more polies, only enough to serve its purpose. My motto is "as a modeler, its my job to create the canvas for the art." You'll see.

I'm remember all these times i've told people "Just wait, you'll see" and then every time they see and they're like "OHHH i see wut you did thar". So zeph, i ask of you to wait and see ;p

sucks.

start over.

I recommend the Unreal 3 Engine

Seeing as you can literally make your own game if you wanted to, you just can't sell it though without an engine license.

But the engine is VERY nice.

I'm talking about it from a design point of view. All the other signs have nice soft chamfered edges while the circle-one doesn't. Even textured, it'd still have relatively hard edges.

...what are you talking about? im confused, zeph. time to MS paint and circle in red.

Bodzilla

he's saying the Circle sign doesnt look as thick as the others, so it looks alot sharper.
just fattern it ever so slightly and problem solved :D

I'm no modeler, but I'd say that circle sign looks no more low-poly than the top of the trash can. ;P

Well it is just a sign.

Looks awesome
