Do we really need another version of the 360? All this looks like is a 360 Elite with a bigger Hard Drive and Wi-fi. Why add Wi-fi when you already have online capabilities?

This would not be a good move for Microsoft. Too many SKU's confuse people and they have enough already. I hope they would just refresh their entire line, not unlike Apple does with their products.

Because some people, like myself, don't want to string a big ol' ethernet cable across the house to my router. And it beats paying $130 for a wireless adapter.

Most likely not.

I myself have a huge ethernet cable (75' to be exact), but it is a pain in the ass to bring it from 1st all the way to 3rd story. Plus my mom gets pissed off because she is old and doesn't watch where she is walking, and trips over it.

An article in UK-based gadget mag Stuff said that by August 2008, Microsoft will release what the publication called the “Xbox 360 Ultimate.”

This machine would outdo the current Xbox 360 top SKU, the Xbox 360 Elite, by including “1080p HDMI output, built-in Wi-Fi, hi-def audio output, cooler 65nm hardware architecture and a near-silent fan,” as well as a 320GB disk drive and a possible built-in HD-DVD player.

When contacted by Next-Gen, Microsoft declined to comment on the rumor. However, a separate source close to Microsoft who wished to remain anonymous said that the rumored “Ultimate” is simply not on the cards.

I will probably get it if I get the RROD after my warranty goes up. Though I think I got the 64NM CPU. Should help even though the GPU causes 75% of the heat.

When I saw the demo for the IPTV it looked awesome but I never seen or heard anything about it again.

320 GB hard drive?

I now see why Microsoft prevents us from replacing our 360 hard drives with standard off-the-shelf PC hard drives. They want us to buy overpriced add-on hard drives ($100 for the 20 GB hard drive is unacceptable) or buy a more expensive console.

The Wi-fi thing is a good move though - it allows convenient online access without having to plug in an ugly USB adapter. Well, I don't have xbox live so it doesn't matter for me, but it's still a handy feature

I already have the launch 360, an HD DVD drive, and an 80 GB PS3 (switched out the hard drive for a 200 GB one), so this Ultimate edition isn't worthwhile for me. However, it should appeal to those who don't have a 360 yet...if the rumored hard drive and HD DVD drive don't shoot the cost up way above the 80 GB PS3. If Microsoft uses the same strategy (assuming the rumors are true) as with the Elite vs. the regular, the price would rocket well above $600.

I would buy one, just for kicks, and so I can have a system for my own personal use to bring to parties to do system link games.

So would I but only when the price comes down to $399. Fuck $600. I only got $270 CAD

Maybe this (http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/23/mod-your-360-with-an-off-the-shelf-120gb-hdd-save-100/) will help.

If they find out you fiddled with the hard drive (ex. you don't get that exact drive with that exact firmware) they could potentially remote ban your console from XBL.
