Remember that super swanky Dell monitor concept (http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/12/dell-finally-uses-its-designers-sheds-ugly-duckling-facade/) we went ga ga over back at January's CES? Yeah, we still find it hard to believe it's a Dell design. Well, it'll apparently be up for sale later in the year. What's more, it features the new VESA approved DisplayPort 1.1 interface (http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/04/vesa-approves-displayport-1-1-kiss-those-dvi-and-vga-ports-good/) which allows Dell to keep the panel depth to a crazy thin 0.5-inches. Although DisplayPort is said to support a resolution 4x that of today's HDTV resolutions, the panel on this pup was only pumping an estimated 1920 x 1200 when we saw it. No specs or price but we expect good things given Dell's past performance in delivering top-notch displays on the cheap (http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=3007wfp).

Pretty cool looking, but I doubt I'll get one. I'm still on my 17" CRT. :smith:

Holy :awesome: thats nice.
Would look amazing on a glass desk with white and/or silver keyboard and mouse. Looks very 'high class' don't know why . Dell win...for once!

Over all it looks nice. Hopefully it has AV inputs then it would be a must for me.
The speakers make it a do not want though.

Yes it's thin, yes it's cool looking, but you know what? Call me crazy, but I'd rather have something decent size that feels sturdy rather then a paper thin screen. Idk, I'm weird...

Yeah, I agree. the glass look seems kind of tacky to me as well >_>

I doubt it. It features Display Port to make it super thin, so I really doubt it'd have anything more than that. If they included other things, then it would have to be thicker.
I love the concept, but I'm concerned about the design. I have a feeling that light passing through from behind the monitor would work against it causing the edges to look distorted. It's still super-sexy and I'll probably get one as a trophy monitor eventually.

And why should I not give you a retart retort infraction? I find it odd that someone can think a royalty-free connection that can handle resolutions 4 times that of DVI as something fail.

...but I agree that he's making no sense in saying display port fails. He might have it confused with something else.

What ever those (speakers?) are on the sides make it look a bit cheesy, imo. Who use monitor speakers anyways? Probably not someone who would be investing in that type of monitor.
I still think the Apple Cinema displays look more sleek.

My boss recently got one for my workstation at work.

They could have used a quality set of speakers in it. At least I hope so. And yeah the 30" ACD is awesome.

My statement makes perfect sense. How many Graphics Cards do you know of that support DP atm?

Always 2 scenarios...You graphic card has only DVI output but the monitor needs Analog input or vice versa. Good thing there is a simple converter piece for it. :D
As for this, I don't think a simple converter plug will do it unfortunately. :(
