First map I ever made with anything source. I would be mapping for h2v, but the combination of a bad editor, bad operating system, and a bad port drove me away. I also been wanting to map for UT3, but I think I'll wait for a few updates for UT3 before I really get into it. So in the mean time, I been learning to map for my most favorite game to date.

to do so, just enable the console, and when your ingame, type connect72.234.227.57:27015 to join my server, or look for it in my server browser (Desert Fortress Server).

Looks great! If TF2 didn't crash after every round I'd play just to see how you built up your geometry xD.
I'm working on a map myself and right now my brushwork is absolutely hideous :awesome:.

As I said in-game, great map. The layout is highly balanced, not only by the symmetry, but also by the power-up placement. Also, I'm now better at shooting people hehe! (I'm usually a medic)

good map. Team Fortress 2 isn't my favorite game, but I really enjoyed that map.

If you are making stupid box shit, yes. As soon as you try and make any curved or angled brushwork things (ex. anything that looks good) things can become a mess.

Jahrain, everyone that I've talked to while playing your map loves it. One guy was hosting a rotation of new maps, and he said yours was the only good one he'd seen. Thumbs-up from me and the rest of the community!

I played for about 3 minutes using a touchpad, but I still really liked the design of it. You could get anywhere very quickly, and use plenty of cover to defend yourself. The progression of the CP's is also very interesting. Can't wait to play an actual game with it.

Looks great. Not many custom maps for TF2 have been able to keep the same style as the default maps. Downloading now.

I can't really stand Hammer, but I'm learning to accept it. Its obviously made so that just about anyone could use it with no prior experience in mapping or modeling. Its just really hard to get really fine detailed structures, from nothing but boxes without making everything look so blocky. Its not nearly as good looking as some of the other TF2 maps I have seen, but my main focus in this map was its gameplay. Maybe by version 2 of the map, I can try to make some visual improvements so it looks more consistent with the default maps.
Also I found out how to take no hud screenshots. Google has pretty much failed me, so I had to figure it out my self.

i have no problem with angled brushwork, only problems i have had are with more natural things, like terrain and cliffs

Excuse the retard post but to play this all i gotta do is just copy and past the map (after i've unzipped) into my Maps folder like in halo?
because i got a map for portal the other day placed it in my maps folder then tried to "import" it (or watever it said) and i couldn't see the file :/

You can also just search for a server running the map and join that game. You will auto download the map.

Wow. Map looks amazing, gonna hop in server in a few. Stunning for a first hammer map Jahrain. You should try to make a tutorial on how to make some maps. Like the actual geometry side of things rather than entities and stuff. Like when I try to make maps, they end up really boxy, I know you can like move the edges of boxes and stuff but that still looks boxy.

Lol yeah, I don't sleep or eat... JK, I actually the leave the game running 24/7 so I can quickly test my maps as I work on them so I don't have to relaunch the game every time I compile my map.

Wow, just wow. Your first map was slightly lacking in purpose/concept, but this one simply proves that you are worthy in all aspects. I wish I could see what it looks like in-game (I hope to soon, though), but I am sure it is quite above par for user created maps. You should try and tackle a 3-zone offense/defense map next - I have one pretty good idea involving a cargo ship, dock yard and warehouse. Keep it up!
