Oh gawd... someone didn't drop me off far enough into the woods to make sure I was lost enough...

J/K
After a many month absence from the forums I'm comming back for awhile again. Some of you may know me, most of you won't. I finally found a copy of Halo 2 PC (H2V... bite me w/e). I also built a nice new computer, upgrading from a 3.8ghz P4 to a 2.4ghz quad core makes a nice difference.

Why am I back? Who am I? Why the hek do you deserve my presence?

Well, I don't remember how it all started. It was way back before H2V came out. I helped around the young forums and such. Fun times. I almost had a Halo CE map ready to go out into the world when something happened... WoW caimed my life. It siezed me and ate me whole. So now here I come wandering back, a 70, 2 63s, and an army of alts later.

The map I was working on is still dear in my heart and will one day get the final radiosity run on it... I only calculated it to take about 30 days on my P4. It is called Sandstorm and resided over on my site, another project that got lost in the bowels of WoW.

So now here I am. Sitting with 3ds max 8 trying to figure out the new hek and trolling the forums on my craptacular 56k connection. If you see me, run. If you smell me, close your mouth. If you hear me... it's too late. I'm back and I have a map to make.

I think I might remember who you are, but I'm not sure. Anyway, welcome back. I know you probly don't want to hear this, but why not just make it for CE? (it has more players and doesn't suck as much)

Cause I already made one for CE. I always like to try new things. Also my map for CE is too "big" for H2 for some odd reason... it went over a 65535 limit by several 10k.

You probably know me... I joined in September of '06. Did you have something along the lines of an Emo Emu?

Some pictures about this map would be cool, to show your actual worth and backing up behind your "fear me" statements.

I remember you AND your old map. I found some parts of it visually interesting, but didn't find the layout that impressive. Who am I to be talking though: I haven't even come close to getting anything in-game.

I don't really like anything about it... The design lacks more though than, "base here, hill here," the modeling is bland and boring, there's no detail, it doesn't look like gameplay was even considered, the texturing needs a lot of work, and the HUD doesn't "fit in" that well either.

I can't remember the last time I've looked at someone's profile nor cared about one to tell you the truth. And I looked at the map, and I think you should start over. It's very bland, lacks much detail, the modelling is mediocre, and the textures do not fit well togethor. They're just put together making it look good enough to tell what differant textures things are, and don't flow well together. The only thing I like about it is the lighting in certain areas, while in others though it doesn't work so nicely.

That shield/health/radar part is awesome.
Everything else lacks tbh.

Ya, I remember you Dano. I did disappear suddenly. >.>

My map? Sure it is bland, it's not supposed to be a colorful field of flowers full of pink ponies. The textures are ones I found and put togeather. The modeling is not the best. It was my first map and I was working out how everything worked, how to do different stuff. I know full well that there are many maps that are worse than mine, and also others that are better.

My next map should be better, now that I'm not restricted by what I wanted to do in my previous map. It will have more colors and hopefully a "better" layout. I may try and work in the hud, but I'm not sure what can't be done now. It definatly is more restricted... *is it me or are there no abilities for custom models? The new tool is alot smaller.*

PS, everyone who said it sux and nothing else, go suck
a whole lot of horse dick

Holy fuck thats a lot of rep D=.

Hi Boo. Been a long long long time since I tested that map, I remember toying with it but never really playing it with anyone else. It had some interesting thingies (This was the map with the underground shrine like section with the statue right?) in it for sure, but I honestly don't remember enough of it to comment on it now.

In the time you were gone H2V came out and if you haven't noticed it isn't what we hoped it would be back then. Lack of developer support, half-assed porting and a million other reasons all contributed to the lackluster game that H2V is for modding. I have moved onto Source Engine myself, so I suggest going either that route, CryEngine 2 or UT3 instead of H2V since there really isn't much of a point now.

ya, the first thing I've noticed in the game itself was certain controlls are "stuck" even though I set them as something else. Should download the cuple of updates...

I probably will try a different engine eventually. And yep, you are thinking of the right map. I wish I could have tested it more with more people... oh well. Found out that my old modem sucked, got a new one, and now I might be able to poke around CE...
