Sadly, this is real. A Katrina victim is suing the government for 3 quadrillion dollars for damages from all the events that took place. This isn't a class action or anything, as there are several other suits reaching upwards of a billion a piece.

Seriously, when that person goes to the federal court, I'm really hoping the judge takes one look at the suit, sits in silence for a few minutes, and asks the person that filed it if they are an idiot right before throwing out the case.

You mean.... $3,000,000,000,000,000? Uh-huh. If you're asking for more money than Bill Gates has, you're likely not to get it.
"It's important to the person who filed it, so we're taking every single claim seriously," Corps spokeswoman Amanda Jones said.
Yeah... have fun with that...

Little is known about the person who claimed $3 quadrillion. It was filed in Baker, 93 miles northwest of New Orleans. Baker is far from the epicenter of Katrina's destruction, but the city has a trailer park where hundreds of evacuees have lived since the storm.
well there's yer problem!

We've had debt throughout most of our existence. From what I understand, during Clinton's years we got out of debt. Of course we're now back in debt with all the poor decision making.

Actually having a surplus is not a necessarily good thing, what it means is the government is taking more money from the people then it needs. However a huge debt is not good either.

What a man! I seriously doubt that you could even get 1 quadrillion if everyone put every single cent they ever owned into a giant jar.
Has anyone noticed that all of these "stupid lawsuits" all happen in the States?

Too bad we'll only be able to tell our kids stories of the days when lawsuits were used to settle cases with legitimate cause.

As for the ridiculous lawsuit, this is why the right to free will should require an application process.

I'd very much like to see these idiots try this kind of lawsuit in China or Singapore.
China: Judge tells you to fuck off and stop wasting his time on stupid lawsuits with no logic whatsoever. Lawyer demands double payment for wasting his time. The guy being sued spits in your face. At night, a bunch of hired Triads puts you in your rightful place.
Singapore: Judge laughs in your face. Lawyer is already filthy rich so he tells you to leave without paying. Company being sued makes the case public. Newspaper reporters publicly humiliate you. You go out into the street, someone points at you and says "Hey that's the guy in the newpaper who tried to sue someone for 3 quad!" Then everyone laughs and embarrasses you.

Well, I gotta say it....Only in America....
With that said, in a way hes kinda smart, the figures always drop a ton when you sue, so they've made sure when it drops they still get a crap load. I do hope the Judge just laughs and tells them to piss off.
Reminds me of the time a company tried to sue a man for I think 4 trillion dollars for a phone call, how on earth do they expect to get that much? Or even CLOSE.

psh, the only way you can get a trillion dollars is if every single inhabitant in the country was stripped 100% of every cent...no individual or single company has that much money.
