As you can tell -- basic geometry is done... just need to put some crap textures on, get the jumppads and placement down, and playtest it. Either it's good or it needs tweaks. After tweaking is (hopefully just potentially done... but we all know it's definitely not perfect on the first go) -- it's textures, materials, upresolution of meshes, and adding decoration.

Then it's ready for distribution... sooooooo I'm like -- oh -- 10% done :p This next shit is slightly more -- gruntish though.

Forgot to mention -- the big ring will actually be part of a larger apparatus which kind-of suspends the research lab (the level) in the air. The ring spins around and gives a shield effect -- similar to the bubbleshield.

Uhh, sorry if this sounds a bit...mean, but is that temp geometry before you model...the level?

That's the base geometry that the player will interact with. The level kind-of takes homage to one of the great Unreal Tournament/UT2004 maps -- CTF-Face.

Looks great, Phopo. What style are you going for? Necris perhaps? Knowing you, I hope you make use of as many prefabs as possible! :-)

EDIT: On second thought, if you are trying for the Face "cleanliness" then perhaps an Axonian style would suit it better. It pays better homage to the classic '99.

Keep us updated!

Keep us updated!Kinda going neither... it was once an LS Research Company (new one I kinda made up) so it has an entirely different architecture. It was sold to the NEG -- but too recently for any cosmetic changes to have occurred.

As for art style -- very bright and vibrant. Lots of greens and blues in the planetarium/lounge... a bit more industrial for the bases and... sort of officey for the main complex.

As for the skybox -- the inspiration for that is Killzone PS3 2005. Actually that screenshot was better than I expected I'd find as it also somewhat illustrates what the apparatus that'll hold up the ring is sort-of envisioned to be like (see: Bottom picture... the towers poking through the clouds).

Obviously there'll need to be *some* (very large :p) level of fakery to make that work... but -- I'll cross that bridge later :p

It'll defiantly have interesting game play >.>

Thinking back it'll probably be better if the Onslaught node blocked off access to your team's flag instead of spawning a vehicle.

so what game do you plan on importing it into?
ut2k4,ut3?

UT3... this is basically just what the collision geometry will look like though. Doesn't included the static mesh decorator actors, nor -- well anything really :p
