So I bought my pc,

Intel Core 2 Quad
(cooler = Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7)
Evga 780i Motherbaord
4 GB ocz SLI-Ready Ram
XFX XXX Alpha Dog Edition 8800 GT (640 soon to be oc to 670ish)
PC&C 750 Watt PSU
ASUS 20x DVD Burner/Drive

My question is, how do I know if my temps are at a low range, my bios says its 30-33 degrees celsius, would that be idle temps?

How do I get the temps in Windows?

If the temps are low enough is safe for me to overclock the ram, cpu, and gfx card?

CoreTemp will show you the temperature for each core, and you should go get the latest Prime95 to see how hot the system gets under full load.

After that then you can begin overclocking assuming it isn't running too hot.

How would I get the gfx card temps?

I would like to start OC'ing it soon too.

EDIT- Min temp I have had is 30c, Average when under load is 50c, Peak Temp was 55c

HWMonitor (http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php) show temps of the CPU, GPU, and most Chipset. The download is in the top left.

if you have an nvidia card, there's a program that comes with ntune to monitor your gpu temps.

Ohshit, thanks.

I prefer SpeedFan, it shows temps for all cores, hard drives, and graphics cards. Also the new CoreTemp doesn't like the Core 2 Arcitecture and always reads about 10-12 degrees clesius hotter.

With my E6550 @2.8 GHz instead of 2.33 I'm at 25 degrees celsius(just above ambient room temperature). My HD is at 29C, but my graphics card is at 53C at idle.

Core 2's run really cool. P4's run at 45-60C at idle.

With the stock q6600 fan, even while playing most games, my cpu temp doesnt peak over 50 right now its 37.

lol, really? My E6600 is idling at 60 degrees celcius.

lol, really? My E6600 is idling at 60 degrees celcius. I don't think that is normal for our processor.

Um Ghost, how many fans are in your case? I only have 2 but have very good airflow, and this is with the stock CPU heatsink.

Alby how warm is your room? Because your system temperature is -64C.

Granted I'm overclocking to about 3.1 GHz, but I'm pretty sure it didn't used to idle at 30 either.

What I don't understand is, I finally got a monitor that shows correct core temps. I'm usually idle at 35-37 Degrees Celsius. At peak I hit 50ish. What should I worry about if I overclock? Is 60 Celsius too hot?

Some CPUs can go up to 80C and be fine. Mine doesn't go past 65C and I have 3.4Ghz overclock.

4RT1LL3RY, the -64C is a bug in the program. It is still in beta and it should be 64C which is the Chipset.
