Fatter handle?

E: And less box for handle?

E2: Barrel rotating:

Please note, none of these animations are for final product, they are just showing parts working, part that moves up will not do that either.

Advancebo
January 25th, 2009, 10:21 AM
If the whole top part moves up, what keeps it attached to the base of it so that you do not drop it or something while reloading?

And fix the obvious open edges >:O.

And yes fatter handle.

Hunter
January 25th, 2009, 10:27 AM
*facepalm* Omg... Lol. I said that the animation is not a proper animation, it is just demostrating how parts work, i made it move up so you can see the barrel rotating, I am finishing the model before me and ExAm work out how it will reload and what mechanizem make sit rotate.

About readloading, you've probably already thought of it and thrown it out, but what but plain old muzzleloading? The front of that thing is not too far to reach and it'd simplify alot.

Doesn't work when it's out of line with your head, and you can't move your eye to it :downs: Doesn't look like a scope anyways, more like a laser range finder or target painter.

The design is overtly busy. Looks like a starwars "kitbash" style weapon. Please don't use that, WoL, it looks like shit. Not that hunter did a bad job modeling it, but the design itself just fucking sucks so bad.

I don't really want to derail this topic anymore, but I feel that you are wrong. I may not have 5 bars, but I wouldn't call myself a "newbie" in the community. Sure some people might not know who I am, or what I even do for Zteam, but that doesn't constitute being called a "newbie".

The amount of rep you have does not equal your community status, or even the amount knowledge you have in your field of halo modding. I know that nobody called me a "newbie", but I just felt that something needed to be said.

Change the break in the last one to a more torn, bent-inward (since the hole was probably caused by a large explosive projectile) look, rather than a sort of shattered look. Metal doesn't shatter like that. And add something sticking out of the first one, to justify the lid being open like that.

Yeah, I know, sorry guys, didn't honestly know how to model the trees, I can scrap them if you want.

As for the windows, the top things are supposed to be like the tin vent covers... but in retrospect, doesn't make much sense for pipes to be running up the middle of circular windows.

What about an Albatross? It's the UNSC equivalent of a Chinook or a Sea Stallion, which would be ideal to ferry large amounts of supplies into a city under siege. (The reason I suggest this is because it gives you an opportunity to expand on the universe and backstory, as well as give some atmosphere to NM, not to mention a cool, reusable tidbit. It'd also give you a place to make something really interesting, seeing as the albatross hasn't really been expanded upon)

It throws off the node list when you add nodes to the model, so if the physics tag references node 6 as the left back suspension, it won't be correct. It's possible to change those values in guerilla though.

Well I really didn't model these with the intention of being futuristic. But I doubt that they would eliminate paper mail, somethings you just need to be able to touch. Unless they had a way to teleport whole objects, which I've never seen in the halo universe, I think they would still use it to some extent.

also, looks like there's far to many sides on those bottles. Even though this is supposed to be high resolution, it's very wise not to waste resources on something so minuscule that will hardly be seen.

Animate the mail box to slowly hover up and down with a stream of light or something coming from underneath it. Then it'll be futuristic :p

http://h2.halowiki.net/images/5/5a/Index_Teleports.jpgThere's a reason those aren't in single player, because they aren't canon to the storyline.

Model a smaller scale version of the upper sketch on from the art of halo book. The one with hogs driving into the cargo bay.

Sorry dude, but those objects don't look like they belong in the future at all. they look like the daily objects i've seen since i was a kid.

So you saw an 8 foot spartan in your child days? lol.

If you look at the Albatross model from Halo 2's Relic in max (after ripping it of course), you'll see that the cockpit is about 75% the size of the cargo bay. I'll get a render in a minute.

How did you get the albatross model?

No, Master Chief is 7 feet tall, some Spartans are taller, some are shorter. If I recall correctly, Sam was a head taller than John (Master Chief), so that would make him at least 8 feet tall. But, if you mean the in-game Muliplayer Spartans, then yes, they are represented as 7 feet tall.

Oh... Good point.

Off-topic: Pity about Sam.

On-topic: Regarding the mailbox that people seem riled up about. How about a terminal that scans text? Seems like a good compromise. This is kinda building on legionnaire's idea earlier

My dad can be a cock sometimes. I was logged on computer with 3ds max open and a pretty good engine in the making, I hadnt saved yet. I left it open and went to watch supernatural.

My mum wanted to check her emails, so she tryed to switch user, but bitdefender does not allow people to switch use and says that they are not admin because I am still logged on.

So my dad, being a prick decided to turn the computer off and come had a go at me asking me why I was the only admin on the computer.. I told the ass a lot of times who is admin and he is an admin.

He needs to get his facts right next time. Time to model it again...

Me mum said that he will prob apologise tonight seems as he went to far. Lol. There are family issues which made him go off on one though. Lol.

not your dad's fault you didn't save, and did you check the autoback (do they skip the C?... autobak...) folder? Max auto backups your work like every five or 15 minutes... so assuming you haven't started playing in Max again... check the folder.

You're all DENSE. I didn't say any of these things would be eliminated, just that they look way too outdated to be in HRH, especially the mailbox. The designs need to be updated.

Hurf fucking durf guys, holy shit.
I was agreeing actually. I meant give suggestions to how you would think they would change.

D-d-d-double post!!

Red is stuff I haven't touched yet.
Grey is all modeled from scratch.

Gas cans on the right (looking at the picture) tread will have some ropes modeled holding them down.

More stuff (like the shovel and bar) will be added later once the basic model is done and I know how many tris I can spare.
