View Full Version : Sapien Crashes after 5 seconds

Well, it did this at first, then stopped, now its doing it again. I set affinity to 1 CPU, then tried windows 98 compatibility mode. No good. I don't know where to find the error report, so help with that would be appreciated as well.

EDIT: Nvm, found the error report. Looks like it can't open my scenarios. I don't know why, I could open them in guerrilla.

Sigh, ok, I'm gonna say how I made my map, just so you can tell me what went wrong:

Made a folder in data>levels>test>mylev, put folders bitmaps, models, and scenery in it.

In the bitmap folder are .tiff files of the images for my map. In 3ds max, the shaders are the names of these bitmaps.

I make my map, export to .jms. the jms file is in the folder "models".

I go into tool, and attempt to compile my map. No errors. I use the command "structure levels\test\mylev mylev".

I navigate to the new mylev folder. Nothing is in there except the structure bsp and scenario.

I edit the scenario in Guerrilla (give it a sky, starting equipment, define it as multiplayer.)

Open in Sapien. First time this worked, but with no ground textures etc. (shaders missing) Now it just won't open.

I assume I went somewhere long while doing the map compilation thing.

It says you're missing "example_tutorial_ground.shader_environment" in your tags folder. Just find that somewhere and copy it to the tags folder...?

EDIT: Pretty much everything is fine now, but for organization's sake, is there a way I can have my map use shaders not just in the main tag folder?

Sigh, for some reason my texture is still purple. I know my .bitmap files is perfect, the shader file is in the tags directory, but when I open the scenario i get the grey-purple texture.

Just recompile your map's bsp with the needed shaders in whatever folder you want them to be. You ideally shouldn't need any shaders directly in /tags. As for your shader, check tiling, detail maps, etc. for anything that shouldn't be.

Nothing weird checked on the shader. I'll try recompiling the bsp AGAIN. Question though, should I run radiosity in tool or sapien?

Do radiosity_save from there.
