lame video problem

so when I come out of sleep mode, my audio doesn't work and videos wont play well if at all. For example, youtube won't play past 2 seconds, metacafe pauses all the time then jumps ahead, and WMP plays extremely slowly with no progress shown on the time slider. Whats goin' on? :(

edit: Restarting fixes it, but I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

I'm going to assume this is the machine in your computer specs? You adio/video stuff should always restart itself after you log in or come back from sleep/hibernate. That's what happens when you log in, the screen goes to black, and then it comes back to normal.

Only thing I know of to cause this problem would be third party (as in not Windows/GPU driven) software that's keeping this process from happening.

Unless you have a laptop, just don't go into sleep. It will create unexplainable problems.
