Turn Out the Red Light?
No.
But: "Amsterdam plans to close down its most famous district, citing sleaze, criminal activity and human trafficking. Not everybody is happy about it."
Whats next Amsterdam, make weed illegal because people say its linked to criminal activity :|?

There goes half the world's porn.
Still, killing such a central part of Amsterdam's economy probably won't be so good for the economy. If European tourists wanted to go to a bunch of fancy clothing boutiques, they'd visit Paris.

The article didn't really specify if they're outlawing prostitution altogether or just in public and on display. I believe that (even though its yucky and a bad idea) people should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies as long as no one else gets hurt. If they're outlawing all prostitution, that seems like its infringing on the prostitutes (disgusting) rights.

Isn't this the ENTIRE reason people go to Amsterdam in the first place?
Idiots i swear to god.

I fail to see the big deal. if there linked with illegal activity, then that's the law and nothing you can do about it.
oh, and why is this place so famous for sex? I never even knew about it untill a wiki search <__<

It can get very lonely and gay out there at sea. major harbour cities used to exploit that fact very nicely back then.

Yes they can, they can fight the illegal activities. This does nothing expect make them have to find a new HQ (or even just hide behind these shops).
