View Full Version : Proper bursts?

Okay, I'm needing a bit of guidance here.

I'm working on a BR and a Spartan Laser. I have two methods of burst fire:

1. Heat-burst: Each shot does a specific ammount of heat. After a specific ammount of shots, the gun overheats, after the gun has completely cooled (by setting the min cool threshold to 0.01), it can be fired again.

2. Charge-spew: This is much more accurate. The way this works, the gun charges for a split second (almost unnoticable) and afterwards, it spews projectiles at a specific firing rate for a specified ammount of time.

However both of these methods have flaws.

1. Heat-burst: You can take your finger off the trigger and fire at an inconsistant rate of fire before the bullets cause it to overheat.

2. Charge-spew: If you hold the trigger down while the gun's going back into it's default charge time, it sends out a random, single round. IE The laser would send out five shots, while cooling down if you hold the trigger, once it's done cooling it'll send out one random ass shot. If you click, click, click with the BR, it'll fire in 3, 4, 4 bursts.

How would I go about tweaking this to work right? CMT did it, Z-team did it, so I know it's possible. I'd imagine it's something really, really simple. :p

I've used the charge spew since 2004. You're not doing something right if it's firing single shots when you hold the trigger down. Check H2 Coagulation's BR tag to see what different in yours.

Wow, you're right. That BR works like a dream.

I swear though, I thought that had the same issue as mine xD

Mind if I look over the tags with HEK+?

EDIT: Also:

The random shot after a charge-spew burst is because of overheating, not the actual burst method.

So does that mean a Spartan Laser would be impossible to do with HCE?

Not to mention the BR I have has no overheating whatsoever so it shouldn't have any affect on that... yet it still has the four shot burst.

Actually, the multi-beam SL was only in the Beta, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure H3 just has a single, really powerful beam.

The retail SL uses the 5 shot burst too.

Also, muki, check your spew time.

I've actually compared my BR to CMT's BR, and they look almost identical. The BR I'm using I originally downloaded from HaloMaps (the silver-esque one), and it's nearly identical to CMT's tag-wise.

The BR did the 4-burst error the moment I used it for the first time, untouched.

Charge time on CMT's is 0.0001, mine is 0.01.
Spew time on theirs is 0.145, which is identical to mine.
Rate of fire on mine is 2.5, theirs is 3.5.
Neither use heat.
Ejection port recovery time (wtf does this do anyway) is 0.5 on both.
Rounds per shot: 1
Minimum rounds loaded: 1.

It doesn't make sense that this wouldn't be working... it's the basically the same thing with slight modifications.

IIRC, the Spartan Laser always shoots multiple beams, the only way to see them all is to fan the gun quickly.

I FIXED IT... for the Battle Rifle

You have to add a secondary trigger and have it set to fire one single projectile or something fucked up like that. Basically, without a secondary trigger, discharge spew fucks up.

It doesn't really make sense to me but apparently it works.

The Spartan Laser's all fucked up now though xD If I wind up needing help with that I may bump the topic..

Rep to all that helped.. whenever I can. Too much in the last 24 hours for everybody. Extra thanks to CMT's BR tags that I used as reference..
