i've been quite bored at home lately.. since i had nothing to do one day, i was thinking of how i started out in map making, so i thought of how i used to make maps(box modeling) and how i taught myself how to make plane modeled maps. so this is a tutorial on how to Plane model a Very simple map. now keep in mind this tutorial is for begginers to intermediate halo ce modelers. but i hope it helps.:)

I found the problem!
Get VLC Media Player. it works with a lot of things WMP doesn't. Plus it's free.

You could use .7z - 7zip
That should compress it a lot.

@ TLS what your saying means absolutly nothing to me... bu i'm using WinRar to compress it, but it only compresses it down by 4MB even when i set the settings to BEST.
so i don't know.......

Al I have to say is K Lite Codec Pack. Anyone who doesn't have it installed is a moron. You'll literally be able to play every file under the sun.

I watched it. It wasn't great. The modeling was obviously amateurish and very simple and definitely not the forerunner style.

it's not supposed to be an advanced plane modeling tutorial... it's a "Beginner" tutorial... for people who just started Box modeling.... and people who can't model that good. or just got 3ds max like an Hour before Downloading.... if your looking for an Advanced Expert tutorial, do not Download this tutorial....

try making a few images, so people can see what their end result might be if they followed your tut.
no pix, no download.

I can tell what you did for a lot of the stuff in that model... and... as much as it's cool to try to help someone with a tutorial.....
"It's like the blind leading the blind"
watch some tutorials yourself and learn some better techniques...
But... then again... I might be terribly wrong... (doubt it) but... there's that "chance" so I'll DL your video just to crit it

Thats awful. Watch my tut before you ever make a tut again...(it doesn't represent my current workflow, but it helped sel :p)
Also, big download is big.

i did watch your tutorial.. and it was good... but it was kinda advanced for people who just started and hardly have no idea what to do... i will probably make more advanced tutorial in a few weeks or so.
and yes i know the download is huge...

I checked out your tutorial... couldn't be bothered to sit through the entire thing... but... it was painful to watch.
Either invest in a microphone (or... actually I found out the other day that you can use earbuds as a microphone.... seriously... try it... it's quiet so you have to boost the audio... but... you can use em.) or edit your video and put in subtitles when you do stuff rather than going back to notepad every couple seconds. It got really annoying and was just inefficient.
To label this as beginner-intermediate is a joke... this is pre beginner... label this video "Bad modeling techniques for complete noobs"

It helped me!
But for real, you should advance in the 3d field a bit more before you release a tutorial. I would have to agree with pretty much everyone here that these are pre-beginner techniques you are using. Just take what you know and expand upon them. I admit I'm not the greatest modelor here, or anywhere. Just ask Llama Juice or Selentic; so I will never release a tutorial unless I get to a point where things look decent and are done properly. ..So yeah practice practice practice!

Thats a horrible plane modeling example tbh... They're just boxes. Plane modeling is supposed to get you away from box modeling.

Infract me if you must for saying this, but
DON'T POST THAT SHIT HERE.
Learn to model and think outside of the box before you post any other 3d content. Try different styles of modeling and a wide range of architectural variation. Also, (a message for EVERYONE) don't even think about posting tutorials until your work has been critiqued by trusted and skilled modelers from the community. People will help you improve your modeling if you behave in an acceptable manner and take heed of most of their criticisms, but will despise you for spreading the idiocy and lack of skill spawned by a terrible tutorial.

What I thought was funny about the tutorial though was that the first thing he did... was made a plane... then he extruded the edges up... then capped it... AKA... he made a box.
If you're going to start with a box... make a box.
