Hopefully... (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time)

I've played a few of the custom escort maps, and they're awesome. An official Valve map will probably been even better. Although I'm more exicted about the new medic achievements and unlockables. If Valve does a good enough job keeping the game balance, it will add a new, fun dimension of gameplay to it, except for the fact that the third unlockable requires all medic achievements to be attained, and one of them is 10 million health healed. I'm only at .5 mil... ugh.

What do you think about it?

Lies.

Also cave7 is fucking win, love the escort gametype.

Finally, you've healed 500,000 as a medic? :l

Terin

I just had time to play on es_miningbsomething. It was very damn long. Gotta try out other maps later... Yes, I've healed 500,000 as a medic as of about a week ago. It's probably a little higher now...

New medic weapon? I am interested in this...

Sever
April 14th, 2008, 12:33 PM
Supposedly both of the new Mediguns will still provide healing and buffing, but one will be able to buff the target to 200%, and the other will charge with the ability to give your target a 100% chance of Critical Hits for a period of time. Supposedly.

Terin

The overhealer (200%) has been dropped. We don't know what the other 2 weapons will be.

MNC
April 14th, 2008, 02:55 PM
THIS WEEK?! YES OH FUCK YES. Overhealer dropped huh. The medic achievements don't sound too hard, except for some of those help a friend. I thought one of them was to get an insane amount of assists?

One of them was confirmed to be the crit uber wasn't it?

As I stated in my previous post, it supposedly is. I so want to be a Heavy with an UberMedic and a CritMedic now!

Really, cause I want to be a sniper with a crit uber >:D

Chain of 1SK's without having to charge! Heck, if you just use a bit of tape and a marker, you could mark your rifle's reticle on your screen and not even have to zoom while being CritCharged.

I'm sure that snipers and spies will have some rule changes regarding them. Face stabbing everyone and insta-sniping would be a little too much. But then again, being able to unload about 6 crit rockets would kill pretty much anything.

That would be totally lame and ruin it, so I don't think so :S

Everythings a tradeoff guys.
EG, with the spy, he'd be getting plenty of face stabs, but the issue is he wouldn't have anything more than your average medigun to keep him alive.
That is to say, he'd be dead in a heartbeat.

Though I like the idea of charging a sniper. :o

He probably wouldn't even be getting that many considering every class in the game has more health than a spy and nearly every class has more health than even a buffed spy D:

revolver does more damage point blank in the face than the knife anyway.

i actually had a fuckign Win moment with the soldier two days ago.

i cmae up over a hill in Hydo (you know that massive stair case on the left hand side when your red) and i saw 4 soldiers and a medic. i Critted and got 3 soldiers and the medic, then i got the other soldier, then i got a scout taht just ran through.

it was fucking awesome.

I had NO prior knowledge of any of this stuff, but I really love playing a Medic so I could definitely deal with this.

ZOMG EPIC UPDATE

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52236

The Blutsaugher
For players that earn one third of the 36 new medic achievements, they will be given a new syringe gun. Called "The Blutsaugher," this new weapon no longer has the ability to score critical hits against an opponent. Instead it will draw health from enemies each time a syringe hits. Especially useful as a weapon to retreat away from the fight while staying alive.
The Critzcrieg
Once a medic has earned two thirds of the achievements, they will be granted "The Critzcrieg." This new medigun uses its ubercharge not for invulnerability, but to give its recipient 100% chance to fire critical ordinance. Medics and the player they are charging need to be careful though, because as much fun as it is to fire critical rockets as fast as you can, the other team will see what you're up to and try to put a quick stop to your plan.
The Ubersaw
For the determined medic that has earned all 36 of the new achievements, they will find themselves the proud owner of "The Ubersaw," which will take damage done in melee attacks and convert it directly to ubercharge. Four hits with this new weapon will fully charge whatever medigun the medic has equpped. So, a syringe gun that heals the medic. That will be very good for survival when stupid healing targets go die. Not overpowered it seems. Neither does the ubersaw. First of all, very few people will get it, and second, a team can avoid the medic with it like the plague when he has his bonesaw out. It balances out.

Now we just need to know what the achievements are, or better yet, the ACTUAL UPDATE. It looks like they've finalized all this stuff, and they're probably just fixing up bugs and glitches. I'd say by the weekend.

EVERYONE will be playing as a Medic now - Glad they didn't create & release the Engis' achievements/special weapons first - too many people play as Engi's.

Ouch, some of those achievements are brutal. But then again, that's how I wished they would be in the first place instead of valve's pussy achievements D:

OmegaDragon
April 17th, 2008, 05:27 PM
Yea, some of those are brutal; especially Trauma Queen (3 ubers in 5 mins? Hmmmm), Triage (Im usually too busy looking out for injured teamates and don't marry myself to one patient), Big Pharma (possible if your heavy isn't a complete retard like most of the heavies I encounter.), You'll Feel A Little Prick (since it is basically useless to try to keep up with the scout), Specialist (10k health in one life? gawd I cant even get past 3k without dying >.<), Bedside Manner (might be easy if it is an engy who is about to get his sentry gunner achievement and announces it)

By the way, does anybody know if achievements can be completed in player-made servers? Cause I am obviously not going to do what many people think I am doing ;P

Exactly what I was thinking.

These achievements will be totally invalidated by people setting up their own servers and just fucking around like this. :/

Demoman is still better tbh.

Nobody ever plays as Medic, especially on Dustbowl. Valve just gave them some incentives.

Boo hoo? Though I agree valve shouldn't let people get achievements when the teams are massively unbalanced or when theres only a few people there.

Demoman is still better tbh.

ahem.

True, but if most people are going to find an upopulated server, fill it with a few friends and whore the achivments, it might not happen as much as people want (and if it does, odds are most of the team will be fucking medic'ing)

If your team has a ton of medics and the other team has a ton of medics also... then its just a big medic brawl. How's that going to stop matches from ending? :S

n00b1n8R
April 18th, 2008, 08:22 PM
Touche.

Though if one team is full of retarded medics yelling "SOMEBODY GO HEAVY OMFG!!1" and the other isn't, then the less retarded team will win even easier than normal.

Oh wait, I just defeated my own point. gg.

Well, just the other day, i saw a medic dual combo. They came in with bonesaws and uber ready and wiped out our sentries and a few of our team while deploying both charges >.> I think they only managed to survive because everyone was going "WTF? Why would they do that???" and where staring at them while doing nothing.

cls
April 19th, 2008, 08:18 PM
Playing a Medic is harder then it seems at first, even during the short time I've played him, because your survival not only depends on your skill, but the skill of the players your healing/ubering as well. I've also found it easier to spot Spys when playing as a Medic.

Nice to see Valve rewarding good Medics and players. Though I doubt we'll see the the update before the middle of the week due to Valve Time (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time).

The Scout video is quite hilarious, but I think the Demo-man video is the best one so far.

Supposedly, according to 1up, the update should be out today. I'm having my doubts, though, as there would most likely be a "FREE UPDATE FOR TF2" announcement the day before, like they did for badlands. Of course, they might just surprise us...
