UPDATE [04/19/08]
http://xs126.xs.to/xs126/08160/mp7_v2_04_19_08_model_final855.png
Any last minute requests for the model before I begin killing unneccesary faces on the side and UVW mapping it?

I completely redid the front grip and now it doesn't look shitty :D. It's also more or less completely optimized - I'll decide what I want for animations on this thing and get rid of any unneeded triangles after that. After that, UVW + Texture. I'll throw a wireframe in as well in a couple of minutes hours.

Added many more details and also cleaned up a couple of spots/got rid of unnecessary geometry on the opposite side of the mesh (the one that won't be seen ingame) Goal for Thursday: Optomize this SoB so I can UVW Unwrap it.

Not much done, mainly stuff on the inside of the mesh (namely the clip). I removed some of the smoothing on spots until I can figure out how to fix it (halp! xD). Hopefully I'll get a chance to add more detail to it tomorrow so that I can begin to optimize it soon. Right now this mesh is a mess and there is a lot that can be cleaned up.
Oh, and before I forget, the triangle count in the screenshot is of just the gun and it's parts, not all the clips and crap I added to pretty up that render xD.

I'm sure many of you might remember my last attempt at this gun - it turned out decent enough, but after I lost the model I decided I'd make an even better version. After about 20 minutes of research I noticed that my old one was horrifically inaccurate in spots, so I fixed a lot of those issues in this version. It's not perfect of coarse, but it's close enough. When there is a texture on the model it will look better. I'm planning on UVW'ing, texturing, animating it and putting it into CS:S as a replacement for the MP5. As such, I'm only going to bother modeling what the player will see since modeling everything else would be a waste of triangles. I will model a complete (if simple) 3rd person model to go with it.
The model is currently at roughly 3,800 triangles, which is rather high but manageable. I still need to add some details but I haven't optimized it yet so there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm aware of the smoothing group issues on the foregrip, pistol grip and stock, I'll fix them tomorrow when it isn't 12:30 on a school night xD. Moar renders + differant angles tomorrow, I'm out.
