I got a hold of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PC a while ago, and I just started playing it again. I changed my hardware since then, and now I notice a pain-in-the-ass problem.

Any time I'm on a connecting bridge on the Big Shell, there is no water down below. Where it would be, instead there's just tan nothingness. Sure, it doesn't affect gameplay much, but it annoys the living crap out of me and I'm sure it would make the opening cutscene for Snake Tales E look retarded as all hell.

Wondering if anyone else possibly had this problem (or this game, for that matter), and if so, how to fix it.

In case my PC specs are outdated, I'm running this on an NVidia GeForce FX 5500.

Probably the old graphics card, what does the game require minimally?

I had no issues with rendering on my ATi Radeon 9200 which is what I had before, and that's an older card than the FX 5500.

Search the internet for the Nvidia fix. Nvidia cards MGS2:S does NOT like. You may have to find a no-cd patch to go along with.

Yeah, theres usually an Nvidia fix for these type of games. Kinda like the Bioshock hotfix for ATI cards.

Alright, after I saw this topic I felt the need to start MGS2S. I haven't played it in a long while and never completed it, but I never played it on this PC. so I started playing the game, but when I started new game it got pretty laggy with all the rain and stuff, so I figure that's gonna fade away after some time. But when Snake gets on the tanker EVERYTHING IS FOGGY GREEN AND RAIN. I can't see ANYTHING except for the models. Will the Nvidia fix help this or can I stop bothering with the awesome game? :(

e: Yes! It's working fine now.

Also, try turning down or off crossfade and motion blur in the game's launcher options. Should make the outdoor sections of the tanker run a bit better, especially the battle with Olga.
