Meh i usually hate film versions of comics since they all got cheesy explanations as to how someone becomes a physics-defiying yet costume sewing "hero". i did like V for Vendetta and sin city tough but that's probably a completely different thing.

until i read this i actually considered watching it. but now i fear this might turn out to be another transformers where the popcorn comes with all the necessary paperwork to enlist in the US army. :/

It should still be playing in theatres in late June (I hope). I'll see it after final exams.
By the way, Tony Stark is like the Marvel equivalent of Bruce Wayne, except that the Iron Man suit is far more high-tech than the Batsuit.
Also, is it true that SHIELD agents make an appearance?

Also, is it true that SHIELD agents make an appearance?Yes, but having not read the comics, I don't know what the significance is...

I'm going to see it on Friday, with some friends, for my birthday. All the ratings that I've read said that it was really good, so I'm sure I'll be of the same opinion.

We're getting closer and closer to the mega-marvel-movie :P. Movie was awesome, I just wish there was a little more Iron Man. Ending was amazing, including the secret one.

Alright, I kind of figured that if there was a "secret ending", that's what it would do. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now all I'll have to do is convince my friends to stay and see it.

Amazing, simply amazing. Saw it yesterday. It was fucking intense, there was no part of it where I thought "yawn, get on with it" maybe the bit at the party but that was it. Loved it, director already said he has plans for a second.
Didnt see the thing at the very end due to the fact the people around us were real dicks and we just wanted to get out. I'll watch it on youtube later.

I saw the movie last night, and it was awesome. The only thing that I didn't really like was that the beginning went a tad too quickly then I would have liked, but besides that, I have no complaints.

If you ask me it had a nice balance of plot and action. Even kinda combining the two sometimes, obviously. It was a great movie, and not a comic book movie.

There was less action than in the spider man movies, but it was there was enough. The plot was great. I think that it was the best marvel movie yet.

Agreed.
It stuck true to the comic books I used to collect waaay back when (Had Iron Man Comics 1-100 before my collection mysteriously disappeared one day, I think my mom threw it away. Needless to say, I was pissed). The only part that it didn't stick true to was the fact it took him 10-15 YEARS to perfect the final suit, not 3-4 days like in the movie. But other than that, it was the best movie I've seen in a while.
And no, it does not come with the necessary paperwork to join the Army. In fact, at first it casts the Army in a positive light, then all the idiots die, Mr. Stark realizes weapons are bad, and kills terrorists using his weapons, then gets attacked by the Army (Before anyone complains "OMG SPOILERZ!!!", it's within the first 20-30 minutes of the movie).
It DOES show the government in the right light, most of the time, but it's because, unlike most heroes, Iron Man is on the government's side (in the comics, he hunts down heroes NOT on the government's side, like the Hulk, where he helps make the Hulkbuster technology that is pretty much the only thing that can kill him), not heroes like the Hulk that are always trying to evade the law, but it's not the movie that wants to make you join the army and wind up like the marines in the AC/DC Funvee.

Just saw it. Fuckign awesome movie, that fella that plays as iron man is an incredible actor, and the director is just as awesome as well.
Saw an interview where they said the Producers and marvel where a little apprehensive about him playing the actor and some of the underlying themes of movie.
But he decided to go against that and make it stand out, rather then just be the bland same old same old as with the other superhero comic books.
My hat comes off for him.

@story moved too fast: well, that's how it works with these movies, unfortunately. Peter Jackson tried breaking the 2 hour limit, and, well, LotR is epic and all, but,
wait, wtf am I talking about, what but? I can think of quite a few movies that would really have benefitted from the extra story time.
ahem, lol, I got ot, what I meant to say was:
Just saw it. I won't call it orgasmic, but it was pretty damn awesome, alright. My favorite part was the fact that Stark Industries was clearly Lockheed Martin, right down to the logo. XD

But hey, I don't work on a defense contract, so I'm not a warmonger.
