When i first started out i used Gmax and my Friend used 3dsMax so i had no way of getting my files onto his 3ds so we didn't really get anywhere with making ags and stuff. but just recently i thought of a way to get .Gmax files into 3dsmax. here it goes:

open up your Gmax file in Gmax. now open up Chimp(whatever .jms exporter you have) and export it as a .jms now use tool to convert that into a .Gbx model. now open up 3dsmax and open Ghosts .Gbx model importer and import the .Gbx model.;)

it's as simple as that.

luckly i have 3dsmax8-9 now and i don't have to worryabout it. but if you still have Gmax and your buddy has 3dsmax please Enjoy! :)

No offense, but it is pretty obvious.

Another way is to get the md3 exporter for gmax and the md3 importer for 3ds. Then you don't need to go through the trouble of converting to a gbxmodel. (Though for rigged models, the gbxmodel one would be useful)

Just check your models VERY CAREFULLY after converting, because I had a few converted when I first got 3DS and they came out an absolute mess. Nonplanars EVERWHERE.
