View Full Version : H2V Gone to s**t

First before you blame me. Don't!
But I have joined many games just to see how H2V is kicking besides the usual. And I have noticed I cant goto any game or anything without some hacker fucking cheating.
Before you say it, "But your the fucking bastard who gave it out"; No incorrect. If you mention the Multihack. It has not been touched and that release does not work if you have it.
It seems like people have figured there own way out and leaked versions of Sprt4n117's trainers have gotten out. That and they are figuring out how to do it themselves.
So far I have been forced to doing Singleplayer where I can mod in peace. *scarab gun start ftw*
Myself, I had lost interest in Halo 2 Vista awhile ago and moved to Server Research. (instant respawn, custom gametypes) From there I just left the game alone.
I may pick back up with Halo 2 Vista for 1 singleplayer mod; or 1 more project hopefully something like Punkbuster for Halo 2 Vista. But thats a far ways away.
Suggestions, Comments?

Really, I did not give anything out. All of my hacks I have made videos for but never released. The Developer of the hacks let people "try" them while he was making them.

Yes it is very active now... Running a clean server is almost a full time job lately...
Why don't you try to help the cause and write some program to help detect the cheats?? Well, to be honest, I wouldn't run one of your programs anyway... See there's no trust there with you Kiwi.

you know, there are ways to lock a program to select pc's. You should've took those measures before even contemplating a program that you knew would single handedly destroy the game for everyone if you didn't plan on releasing them. That goes for anyone making a trainer that they don't plan on releasing...
(thats not to say h2v wasn't already destroyed by its laughable editing kit)

We need to do something about these noobs. Yesterday there was like about 5 of them in one server. It was annoying

IMO you have no right to complain. HURR i make cheats and help others create cheats and now i want to complain about cheats. Shut. Up.

Hey, like I said fuck you; I did not have anything to do with all of the hackers. I have not released anything since the Multihack and that was protected and there were 2 "protections" to it. after 3 days after I released it would not work. Then if you figured out some way to crack that; It wont start unless your date is old, and if there is a file on my website. (deleted btw)
Also I have been working on something like PB that will scan the exe for the speed addresses and if they don't equal 3.03(or w/e the walking speed is) then you will get kicked.(plugin maybe for Vicky's Tool?)

Okay? Is this news flash or a blogpost or what?
I gave up with H2v the second it was vista only.

Theres no real way to keep out the cheaters unless what KIWI makes reaches the light of day eventually. I wouldn't count on that being anytime soon. Whatever, H2V sucked anyway.

1st, nice attitude, 2nd, one of your creations still works, and 3rd, without discussing details here, i don't think that'll work.

Just shut up and go back to Halo CE it may have the obsolete engine, but from an H2V stand point, its better.

^Yeah, I love HCE no doubt, but the netcode ruined it for me :(. I went from playing H2 XBL to HCE which as you can imagine was irritating.

Before you flashed your videos everywhere and showed how possible it was to cheat on live i'm sure alot of noobs didn't even know it was possible to cheat on live. Just my opinion.
Either way i do agree with the topic. Every time i play i see a hacker and it is very annoying.
A fact =the game has gone to shit and there is no point trying to point a finger because it happens to all good or decent games.
I still play though. Its fun to make a person feel as stupid as they look by killing them while running faster than a hog.

I stopped playing Halo 2 Vista a long long time ago. For me, it was a lot laggier than Halo 2 on xbox - most games were way too laggy (all servers in the multiplayer lobby had 0 bars of connection, except for one or two that were empty)

Because I am still making a map for it :p
In more serious matters: I don't know why :)

So. pardon my ignorance, but why do most people stay clear of H2EK? Is it that it is locked? That you need Vista to run it?
If the EK is just bad, then I'll reinstall XP.
Vicky

The H2EK runs fine on XP, well most of it... and some people are actually making maps.

Isn't it a bit foolish to run an EK on an OS which doesn't support the game?
Or maybe I'm still ignorant on how you would run Halo 2 on XP?
Vicky
May 11th, 2008, 10:33 AM
A 3ds model on xp is still a 3ds model on vista, same for ass-files, scenarios, shaders, bitmaps etc.etc. so you can create your level on xp, just can't walk around on it or create/edit shaders.
(aren't we going a little off topic here?)

It's because the only things that can be easily done or done at all in H2EK is compile maps and new textures. No scenery, no weapons, no vehicles. It was basically a giant slap to the face. "Here's the editing kit, but you can't use it."

I blame Ballmer.
But anyway, *makes a u-turn*, if H2V is that bad why hasn't anybody, or rather the community, wrote a letter to MS telling them to give us a proper EK?
In other words, why complain about it when you can do something about it (and then say that you've at least tried).

The game really isn't even supported anymore. I'm not even sure if the company who ported the game even exist still. Really, all we can do is complain about it, because nothing will ever be done to solve the problem. That is, save for a Korn-miracle.

OK. The fact that the company doesn't exist might be relevant, but if MS did liquidate them, then MS probably still has backups of the files (as they do still own Halo 2 Vista).
But honestly, if all you can do is complain, why waste the effort?
You can at least TRY to solve your problem. Even if the company doesn't exist, you can still contact MS.
If complaining is useless, try something that is useful before complaining. In other words, work before "play".

Halo 2 Vista is beyond all forms of help, honestly. The community, while it was still fresh, wrote a well-thought out and organized letter containing a list of complaints the community had with the game as a whole, and sent it to a bunch of people; some from Bungie, some from Microsoft, some from Hired Gun, and I think HBO.
The letter was essentially ignored; we were too late getting it out. Microsoft liquidated Hired Gun, and officially dropped support instead of continuing it. As far as I know, I don't think anyone really cared about H2V in the first place. Bungie didn't want anything to do with it, Microsoft just wanted something to try out the G4WL platform, and Hired Gun was just kinda slapped together and similarly dismantled, unlike how they picked an established developer (Gearbox) for their last port. It was a letdown to anyone in the CE community who was looking forward to making things for Halo 2. Of course, nobody outside of the community cares about us poor little Halo modders, and I don't blame them. Blam's flexibility pales in comparison with about every major commericalized game engine out there today.
We still have these forums because at the time we moved to Modacity, people still expressed some sort of interest in the game. We'll keep an eye on the place, and if the forums lose activity enough, we'll hide them. No use in carrying dead weight around.

p0lar_bear; I agree that many people have turned this game into shit. I also agree that I may have "started" the speed running high jumping phenomena's but I also agree that something should be done about it. My first step against stopping this stuff was Protect the apps and dont release :)

My god, wtf happened here. I typed in h2vista.net to come say hey to find that its basically been fucked up. :shake: I've read a few bits and pieces in the thread but I still don't understand exactly what has happened. My fault for not being around enough. Anyone want to summarize it in a way which I will be able to understand wtfx happened?

It was a bad port, not very good sales, mostly due to the bad port. Microsoft gave up on fixing it. Lots of customization abilities were locked for the map editor, so some of the community eventually thought it wasn't worth it. We tried to keep it alive, we were ignored / it was too late.
