For those who don't, a little briefing:

Once upon a time, there was a little company called Rareware who made Nintendo 64 classics such as Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Conker; but they also made a little kid-friendly gem called Banjo-Kazooie. It was a Mario 64-style platformer which featured a whole mess of shit to collect, granting ridiculously old (or ridiculously young) people a distraction from their boring lives that didn't require guns. The sequel, Banjo-Tooie, was even better, adding a whole mess of techniques and extra things for perfectionists to pick up.

Now we all know Microsoft bought Rare out, and it looks like they're finally resurrecting the franchise for the 360 in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Rather than have most of the platforming done through various abilities, players will construct a vehicle (more like a multi-purpose travelling contraption) in order to meet the objective; but rather than there being a set path, players are encouraged to build whatever they think would suit the purpose best. Possibilities include a small car with a spring jump attached to the bottom, which then releases a gilder in midair, allowing the player to reach a high ledge.

While I personally am a little suspicious of ditching the old platforming moves, I thoroughly enjoyed the first two BKs, and will probably follow this closely.

Any thoughts?

There was a few (2) screens leaked the other day, made me happy on the inside.

I <3'd BK... even worked on a project involving BK for a while (http://www.llamajuice.com/ce/bk/banjo%20is%20pro.jpg)

Needless to say, I'm excited.

YAY!

Although I am excited, I noticed that a lot of companies are re-making their old games. Original stuff would be nice.

The colored eggs and the key were supposed to be extras in a "stop n swop" (SNS)thing. Basically... you'd get to a certain point in Banjo Tooie... eject the banjo tooie CD (they were planning on using the CD for Banjo Tooie... but the CD drive addon for the N64 got canned) and it'd load one of those bonus rooms with the eggs or key in it. Nobody really knows what those actually did... probably unlock something in Banjo Tooie, but since they took out the SNS feature, and anything even related to it in BT modders haven't been able to get the bonus stuff to unlock anything.

There are either some cheatcodes (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/n64/code/196694.html) out there that'll let you get to those areas though. They appear in a separate area in your "view totals" (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e2/Stopswop.PNG) screen.

E: The more you know!

Anybody remember? REMEMBER?! IT WAS FREAKING BANJO KAZOOIE IF YOU DIDNT KNOW IT GTFO

Also, does anybody else remember Boggle's Revenge? It looked awesome, you could control boggle, who could control the nearest enemy to stop B&K. It got taken out, but h4x enabled it again. It was in Banjo Tooie, by the by.

How is it a remake if it has completely different gameplay.

Also, the original game was pretty fucking awesome and this looks that way too. Now why can't more people do this with their franchises instead of just making endless rehashes :eyesroll:

Well, by remakes I mean sequels to older games. For instance, Interplay is doing a new MDK, Earthworm Jim, etc. Although I am happy about these new games, I wish there was some completely, all-out, never before seen characters/story like Halo 1 was once upon a time.

Isn't it obvious why companies don't do what Rare is doing? If it aint broke don't fix it.

That being said, a lot of my friends that I showed the trailer to were edgy about the new game. It's not the same formula but hopefully they can still pull an ace game out of it.

I really hope they come through with EWJ and MDK.
I recently started replaying EWJ port for the old gameboy. Fuck, it's so hard. It was severely harder than the SNES/Genesis counterpart. No saves, and I made it to the Helicopter level.

I fail to see why it's a new formula though.

Mumbo Skulls = Bolts and Nuts
Big Dinosaur rampaging = Big SUV rampaging
Flying transformation (Even though it was usually fly pads) = Plane

it's the same formula, stuck in a different jacket.
