Questions about garrys mod

Well, i just got the orange box,

but im wondering, do you need half life 2, half life 2: deathmatch, and CS: Source to get garrys mod? Or can i just have one of them?

PLus, i got garrys mod 9, when i started it up, it automatically shut down and said
"engine error"

one more thing, noob question:
where can i get hal life 2: deathmatch?
does it come with a game or seperatly?

you dont need those games to run gmod, but to see the content from those games you will.

and you can get half life 2 dm for free...

Buuut, cant get money on the account, not enabling me to get Gmod.
