Operation Black Mesa Media Release
Don't know if any of you have checked out the mod I'm whoring in my signature, but they just had a nice media release.

Since last time around, several new members have joined the development team. I'm pleased to announce that our mapping team is now almost full with one final spot pending. Our cadre of talented mappers have been hard at work to recreate the enviroments of Black Mesa in the Orange box engine and we've got no less than four chapters to show.
We also recently had several excellent modelling applicants who are now striving to fill the mod with items like the new combat knife and the desert eagle pistol, as well as another addition to our team of concept artists who never cease to amaze with their art.
Then what positions does that leave? We are still in need of a texture artist or two to work on enviromental textures and prop skinning, an animator and a coder.
Wrapping this article up we'd like to point out that even if we don't post updates every second week we're not dead, far from it. We are all hard at work and will continue to do so till this thing is done!

Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
OBM is not the same team as BM:S right? I've noticed that those maps are still using default assets while BM:S has so much custom made map props that the mapper doesn't even need default ones.
Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
Yeah, they're completely separate teams.
Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
How long was opposing force compared to half life?
And these guys seem to be doing what BM:S took 2 years to do in only a few months O_o
Imagine how quickly they'd be going if they collaborated.
E: BM:S has better music.

You must have missed the part where they're skimping on custom assets compared to BM:S.
I'd be more interested in this if I had ever been able to have a positive experience with OpFor. Game breaking bugs, plus the fact that I was already pretty HL'ed out when i played it, made me never really want to finish.
Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
I do have to say that some of the environments look halfway between GoldSrc and Source, but at any rate, I'm still looking forward to this. OpFo was damn fine and I was just a bit crushed when the Opposing Source team went kaput.
Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
Concept art is impressive compared to a lot of the stuff out there. The levels look pretty good so far, although some of the texture work looks iffy in a few spots and the radioactive goop in that one shot looks poorly done (should be more flush with the floor and not sticking out, it doesn't look like liquid).
Lots of these cool mod teams popping up, hope that a lot of them get released this year :).

Well, similarly to Black Mesa, their visuals should only improve over time. ;)
I mean, some of their artists have done some rather impressive work... ie their bullsquid.
Re: Operation Black Mesa Media Release
In that case, it's not coming out anytime soon. But then again, neither is BM:S.
