UPDATED (2x): OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Background
According to Dennis/UXB from HaloMaps, every single build of OpenSauce submitted to him has crashed during testing. To be sure that this is an isolated issue, or an issue with the actual submitted dll, I want your help.
The smartasses who "lead" CMT decided that one person's problems with unknown files under unknown testing conditions was enough to persuade them to not use OpenSauce. They refuse to acknowledge that there is no one except for Kornman, Shadow, me, p0lar, and Ctrl who have not the game go suicidal while OS is hooked into CE. We all beg to differ...
OpenSauce Testing
A clean build (d3d9.dll) of OpenSauce for Halo CE 1.08 is available for download right here: DOWNLOAD OS DOWNLOAD OS (CORRECT VERSION!) CAUTION: At the moment there is a report that this causes CE to not properly close. This has been reported only once. There has also been two cases of text disappearing.
THIS VERSION IS FOR HALO CE 1.08 ONLY. YOU MUST UPDATE YOUR GAME AND BE RUNNING A 1.08 EXECUTABLE. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU USE THE 1.08 EXE. IF YOU USE VERSION CHANGER, DOUBLE CHECK!! IF IT'S A CLEAN INSTALL, RUN HALOUPDATE.
To check Halo's version number: Right click haloce.exe > properties > details > "File version". The version should read 1.0.8.616.
This extension will change the version of Halo temporarily, appearing as 1.09. THIS IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. You will not see any servers while testing, but you can remove the dll when done and be back to normal. (or use version changer)
Additionally, if you have init.txt in your CE directory, DELETE, MOVE, OR RENAME IT before launching Halo. THE GAME WILL CRASH WITH INIT.TXT IN THE CE ROOT DIRECTORY!
Also, you must close Xfire to play the game.
If you happen to be one of the few who experiences a loss of the in-game chat text (that was previously working), download the latest DirectX 9 version and run the installer. Further information and the DirectX download is available here: http://www.modacity.net/forums/showt...968#post410968
The term "flawlessly" applies to the ability to run the game with the OpenSauce DLL without any bugs or crashing once the game is loaded. Doing what is necessary to get it running, such as removing/renaming a file or updating your game, does not affect if you are able to "flawlessly" run it, as long as it works.
Installation
Download the file and place it in your Halo Custom Edition directory, alongside haloce.exe. Open the game and just play. To make sure it is loaded, start a local game and type "gravity 0.001" into the console. If the gravity is affected, it is working. This release also supports multi-team vehicles, so if you want to get together with another person with OS, you can mess around and piss off other players who don't have it.
Please post here, regardless of whether it works or not, your DXdiag results. To do this, click Start > run > dxdiag > [Save All Information...] > open file > copy "System Information" like below
If it caused a problem, describe exactly what happened and the error you had. For instance, if CE will not load, or if you cannot change the gravity (no response/not loaded into memory).

POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH OPENSAUCE
There are a couple of scenarios which have come to our attention since the start of the thread. If you run into a problem in your native testing environment, please check if your problem is similar to one below.
- Xfire is loaded in the background; causes Halo to crash on load. Close Xfire and launch Halo.
Halo gives the error that d3dx9_37.dll is missing. Download the dll to fix, check again.- init.txt is located in the CE folder. Delete, move, or rename init.txt.
- Chat text disappears; doesn't come back after removing d3d9.dll. Install latest version of DirectX 9.
If you have any of these issues and the provided fix solves the problem, please
mark that the game WORKS, but in your post include what you had to do to make it work.

Also state whether your operating system is 32 or 64-bit. DXdiag doesn't seem to show that. This will not only help prove they're full of shit, but it will help with the development of OS.

Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
There still is the problem of Dennis saying that OS crashes on his test machine. I would still like to know the root of this. Also, just for the record:

I would think that if you're running 64bit windows that it would say 64bit under DxDiag Version, unless there isn't a 64bit one yet.
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
I'm getting some useless 20 byte file when I download the RAR. What's up with that?

Sorry, I fixed the issue now. When clicking and dragging with FireFTP, it went into the wrong folder and then flipped out.
Re: OpenSauce and Halo CE Crashing *PLEASE TEST FOR FEEDBACK*
Crashes on start up. I don't think I have all the standard maps in the folder and I think I'm using a custom UI.
