Microsoft has confirmed the existence of a Halo-related project titled 'Bootcamp', which surfaced recently via Korean Ratings.
The Microsoft-filed Korean listing, spotted by Game Front, names 'Bootcamp' as a PC online action game, with mention of Halo 3 in the description.
Little else can be gleaned from the Google-translation, but a Microsoft rep was surprisingly willing to confirm the prematurely outed project with an albeit vague statement.
"What's Bootcamp? It is not related to our Xbox One efforts, or the Reclaimer Saga, but rather a project we're very enthusiastic about and will have more to say about in the near future," said the rep.
The 'Reclaimer Saga' refers to the second Halo trilogy, which is expected to continue on the next-gen Xbox One console.
A PC port of Halo 3 would seem unlikely at this point - a full six years after it originally hit Xbox 360 - unless it were some sort of experimental free-to-play multiplayer venture (think Quake Live). The project may also be related to a Halo novel by Reed Ruiz titled Halo: Fall of Reach: Boot Camp, but nothing is confirmed.
343Industries Frank O’Connor (who posts to NeoGAF as “Stinkles” also chimed in.
You should probably factor that into the nature, type and scale of thing it’s going to be. I will say this though, and only this: it’s cool and something I have always wanted to do.
*BTW, I was not sure which section to post this so if there is a more appropriate area please move it there, TY.

O'Connor does nothing but make himself look like an ass lately. I'm going to wait for further info.

No further information needed. All Halo stuff not made by Bungie is just his personal fan-fic taking over the universe he had no creative control over. He was a lackey that updated the website with experience working in magazines until mysteriously moving to Microsoft where he waited for Bungie to finish Reach and hand over the IP to him.

I've gotta agree with that ass-essment. A couple years(?) back there was some panel where they were talking about Halo and its future and one guy (with a German sounding accent if I recall correctly) asked Kiki and Frank about the modding community and his basic answer was that they don't give a damn about the mod community, if only Halo belonged to Valve.

More likely than one would think, with the xbone apparently having no backwards compat.

Modding support or not, I welcome any and all Halo titles for the PC. I just hope they learn from their previous mistakes.

It would be hard to find unless you pay attention to 343i and remember each of their appearances. Basically, the person asking the panel was wondering if modders would ever get anything new to do in terms of tools. Frankie pretty much replied that there was nothing foreseeable happening with that.
And they're not going to learn from their past mistakes. They're a first party developer with an interest in pushing whatever they call a feature for anything microsoft.

Still want to know who that was given how familiar they sound to be with the engine. I know at least one of you gentlemen...and lady...must know.

That's also pretty old of a video. He also did not outright say they didn't give a damn about the PC modding community. If anything he suggested that bringing Halo to the PC again simply isn't a priority, but there are talks of at least showing support or something in the future. For all we know, that mentality has changed and those talks are becoming realities as we are seeing maybe with this current business that this thread is based around. Just playing an advocate here.
