I've ran the dedicated server many times in the past but for some reason i can not get it running as a service now. I have no problems running it as a console but thats not how i want to run it. i get the following message when trying to start the service
Could not start the Halo 2 Dedicated Server service on local computer.
Error 5: Access denied.
I am running this on windows server 2003. Was there another Ds update or Xlive update or something?

Did you actually try this on the server itself, or were you telnet'd into it? Remote desktop is much better if you can't actually sit in front of the server.
The error seems to indicate you tried to run the dedi server from a remote machine, and it couldn't run on that 'local machine' you were on. That's all I'm saying.
I ran it directly from my server. I have a kvm switch and my server is 5' away from my gaming computer. I even reinstalled my operating system and i get the same error. Windows server 2003 btw.
ok, how about 'active directory'? Do you have that enabled?
One of guys had major problems hetting H2 running on his server while Active Directory was enabled.
Other than that, I have no idea what you need to do.
After troubleshooting all possible problems/solutions i finally found the solution to my problem. All i had to do was add the administrator as one of my h2 server users. I don't totally understand why it did not install correctly but oh well i figured it out.
