HOLY ASS MAN SHOT TAGS :gonk:
Don't get excited anyway; that screen's fake. Compare the lines of text to this one (click to enlarge):
Attachment 1438
Notice that the words are not the same length in both pictures.
Hm, you're right.
Back to the original image then. Anyone have CSI-scale enhancement powers?
Anyone got a video of this somewhere?
Taken from Penny Arcade.Quote:
The hex converted to decimal: 226 228 226 : 215 197 213 196 228 213 227 ( 201 ) + 211 197 197 197
If it's ASCII it's extended ASCII. Could it be EBCDIC (common mainframe encoding)?
Edit: It IS EBCDIC. It spells: S U S : P E N D ... U N T ( I ) L ... E E E (colon, dots for spacing, and parens added to roughly locate them in the source image.)
Hey, being QSECOFR on an AS/400 many years ago finally pays off!
So basically, the hidden code was telling us to wait until E3 for further details.
E: And for anyone who thinks that the picture I posted is fake, GDC award attendees said that the BSOD changed from a normal Windows version (The one Flibit posted) to the one I posted (the GLaDOS verison). As you can see in the one Flibit posted, the grey bar appears to have a longer word then GLaDOS (Windows) and the first suggestion line says "Press any key to terminate the ... application". After a little bit, the GLaDOS version appeared. Brian Crecente of Kotaku can back this up. He was liveblogging the event. Here's what he said after it came up:
That's my argument. I say the picture is real.Quote:
9:34 Crecente: GladoS blue screen... Press any key to flood the facility with deadly toxins
Confound it, Iffy! My image was real!
And here I finally got around to enhancing that first BSOD, CSI-style.
I couldn't make much of it, other than the last line was slightly longer and that the gray bar read: GLaDOS.
