Yeah Which is why I rebuilt an old PC just for Dedicated server
Wow. So, Unless I want to fork over $50 dollars in addition to what I've already paid I can't play my own maps with my friends?
Exactly. Unless you can convince one of your friends to have the dedicated server dictate their computer. They won't be able to play however. If you are running the dedicated server, you can't play online while the dedicated server is running. This is done so you have no work around purchasing a gold subscription. Also, hamachi and other LAN tunneling applications have been blocked by h2v for the same reason. Welcome to microsoft's vision for the future of PC online gaming.
Is there some way to block that feature? I mean it seems a little out of the way to incooperate it into the game itself. Maybe it originates with windows live?
Finally. A release date. I've been waiting...
Not unless you have 2 separate Internet service providers and have one PC hooked up to the one service for your gaming computer, and another to the computer which you will run the dedicated server on. I can't think of any other way around it. And yes windows live is to blame. They went way out of their way to make the game vista exclusive, so I'm pretty sure they also went way out of their way to also make the game enforce usage of Live on the players.
Are you saying that no more than 30 people are playing Halo 2 Vista at any given time? I thought I was the only who hasn't bought it yet. I'm still waiting for a demo.
I believe that at one time, someone said they seen about 50 players online. I have never seen more than about 30 myself.
Well actually, that makes very happy. I'm glad people aren't putting up with Live. I guess not even the biggest FPS franchise name in history can make PC gamers pay for free features.
I feel like I wasted my money on this new pc... at least it is new...
