Meh, I've read the manga up to the latest chapter translated, and most of the anime. I really do not see whats so good about it. The dialogue is rather awful and the storyline isn't even that great. It is one of the most intense series I've followed though. The ending in the manga is much more concluding and about a thousand times more depressing.

Won't get into details why or how, but Kouta and Lucy end up at the top of a building and Kouta has been shot. From the shock of it, Lucy pretty much shouts that she is going to destroy the world. About a second later she releases this aura of power and her hand melts off. (the more power she uses, the more she melts) Although Kouta is still alive, he can't take much more, so Lucy devotes the rest of her power to protecting Kouta from the incoming army that has detected Lucy. As she protects Kouta she sings Elfen Lied (some German opera-like song) even though she continually melts. Eventually, she is no more than a body and a head. While in this state, Kouta wakes up, and Lucy wants him to shoot her.

(That was what happened at the end of the latest chapter (103 of 107) so its pretty close to the ending)

SHIIIT. That sounds like a great ending.

Its probably going to be rather :smith: though.

Its a very dark, realistic, and sci-fi-y anime. Explaining it via synopsis would not do it justice, just give it a trial run and watch the first episode.

Its hard to find for whatever reason, except I struck gold and found the complete series with subs streaming online. :D

Hmm... I'm not familiar with Boxtorrents, if your downloading through that, what's your average speed?

There's a lot of seedboxes on it, so speeds often max out my connection. That's on the registered tracker, though, I'm not sure if less seeds are available on the public version.

My friend's boyfriend uploaded all of the japanese episodes at one point, but they were deleted. I watched the English dub, though, i'm not sure whether those are still up.

The link in my post is to all the Japanese eps subbed. Streaming. I'd never watch a dub if there was a Japanese sub available.

Dubs can be better in certain anime. Black Lagoon, FLCL and Cowboy Bebop are some of the dubs that I preferred over the subs. I'm currently getting the LIME Dual Audio version of Ergo Proxy, so if I don't like the dub I can switch to Japanese audio and English subs.

I watch dubs whenever I can get them, since I do more things at once while watching than staring at the window. I don't want to have to focus on reading subtitles.

I understand Cowboy Bebop because that dub was amazingly well done (Although I don't really think it could be any better than the sub), not so sure about FLCL though, I've seen one of the episodes for the dub and it didn't strike me as anything too special. Haven't watched Black Lagoon so I can't say anything about that. I usually have no problem with subs, I usually just um... pay attention and don't get distracted. :p

I watched End of Evangelion, and it started out good, involving him jacking off on this unconscious chick, but then it kinda sucked when it just went to Shinji crying for the last 80 minutes of the movie.

Then at the end he magically appears on a beach and starts strangling her for no apparent reason.

Oh look guys, more Fullmetal Alchemist.

It'll probably start at the manga divergence and continue on from there rather than continuing a story line that should rest rather than continue. If I'm right, you guys are in for a big treat. Many manga readers agree that its a lot better than the anime in many ways. (Wait... how is that possible? :v:)

Woah... this anime is a bit of a slow starter, but its really interesting. Its called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When the Cicadas Cry in English, or even When They Cry). It is a psycological/emotional thriller. The story rages is a bunch of different directions. Its really... intense to say the least. It starts out rather light hearted and then just kind of goes crazy. Its actually composed of many different arcs involving the same characters. I'm pretty sure its still ongoing. I think it isn't uploaded anywhere for streaming, so I got mine via boxtorrents. (Jelly ftw :cool:) If somebody can't use Bittorrent for some reason, I can upload it to Veoh if I have the time.

Got into Code Geass a few days ago, I'm on season 2

Does any of the Sonic shows count? Those are the only japanese cartoons I've ever seen.

...if it was made in Japan they still count, but it's not what people think of when they hear "anime".

That anime that I was talking about in my previous post is perhaps the most different anime I've ever watched. It is composed of many arcs with all of the same characters with usually ill-fated endings. At the beginning of a new arc, all of the ill-fated events (ie the death of a major character) never happened, so the anime still continues on. This is probably the first anime I've ever watched that uses this strange parallel universes. Since there are many unanswered questions by the end of each arc, those questions are answered in another arc. (The anime has Question arcs and Answer arcs) It's by far one of the most interesting anime's I have ever watched... ever.

Besides that, its pretty fun to watch lolis kill each other. :lol:

E2: If you're going to watch this anime though, know that there is going to be some rather painful/brutal things in it. Sometimes I even went 0_0. And usually anime gore doesn't seem as bad as it is in this anime.

Aw, goddamnit. I just finished Cowboy Bebop. It ended in a way that I hate shows to end.

Ok, manga ending to Elfen Lied... basically. They just translated ch 106 and the last ch is 107.

Basically what happened is that after Lucy protected Kouta, she was basically a melted puddle and her Dinoculous personality took over. She was about to annhilate Kouta and everybody, but Nyuu and Lucy's personalities take control and use pure will to redirect the vectors. They then appear in front of Kouta (nude of course :p) but they are just illusions created by their will, they aren't physical bodies. They then tell Kouta to kill them by shooting the melted body. Kouta couldn't do it, but when you think that he is about to get owned, along with everyone else, Lucy and Nyuu take over and use their vectors to give Kouta the gun. He takes the gun and the chapter ends with a line (said by Kouta) saying, "Thats when I killed them...". Ugh, very ;_; ending. Now the only one who actually loves Kouta is his cousin... wtf why incest? Its probably just going to end with Kouta ending up with his cousin, being happily together but remebering Lucy/Nyuu. Ugh.

We found out we werent cousins soon after that.
We kissed at a foot ball game.
She came to my house one afternoon while I was sleeping and kissed me.
Things led on that day because no one was at my house cept her and I and I sleep in my boxers.
Nothing too far though so dont get THAT idea.
I then found out that we were cousins again.
After freaking out (more because I was totally gay for her but couldnt be with her since she was my cousin), I found out that it was by marriage, and they divorced.

Now she and I are pretty damn close.

Nesting mechs was an awesome concept. The thing that really carried the show for me was the fact that the good guys always win by sheer I-can-punch-the-fuck-out-of-shit-just-because-I-say-so awesome.

I just finished Higurashi (that anime that I've been talking about in my previous posts). All I have to say is that this is probably one of my new favorite animes. It has a very strong and rather compelling story. Loved it.

Edit: Just checked a little of the dub out... ok... everyone who has the slightest urge to watch the dub... don't... aside from atleast 1 or 2 characters, the voices don't fit the characters at all.

Do you mean that negatively? If so... er why? What's so bad about character development? It allows for further story expansion, which is usually a good thing. I'm on Ep 17 now so I think I've experienced atleast a few of those episodes before and I can't say that the anime has bored me.

Just finished the elfen lied manga. I don't even know if I need to spoiler this.

That was fucking terrible. Time after time the author betrays the reader by bringing the "dead" back to life. No, when somebody "dies", I want them to stay the fuck out of the rest of the story.

Sexual shit, it sucked. Ok, yes, it was consistently funny for a while, but you killed it you perverted asshole. There's only so much fanservice you can stuff it one series without the reader loseing all respect. Sorry, but I'd rather not see nana/nyu/yuka/mayu naked every other chapter.

Jesus Christ, the girls are fucking pussys. Must nana cry every chapter? It's bad enough that they cry constantly without reason, but if they are so damn emo, they shouldn't have unaturally happy highs.

Generic anime garbage. The first half or so of the series was pretty good at avoiding that, but later on it gets completely fucktarded. Hurrr, my horns grew spontaneously!! Hurr, I'm a giant mutant!! Hurr, imma tank running off of organs!!

So basically, first half, awesome; second half, lame.

IMO Elfen Lied sucks... period. All I see is gore, nudity, awful dialogue, and an ok storyline.

Also... Elfen Lied was made by a woman... yeah... Lynn Okamato.

I do mean it negatively: an Anime about giant fighting robots really shouldn't have an unwilling unstable male main character. The only real reason it managed to stretch to 26(I think?) episodes is because of Shinji's crying about everything, otherwise it could have been done in half that.

Oh my God... I'm almost done with Neon Genesis... (I'm on ep 23 now) this is one of the most deep animes... ever... the episodes are starting to get really trippy and creepy. The last thing I'll say is... HOLY SHIT.

I didn't really predict the main character's sexuality though... I wanted him to end up with one of the girls or something, mb he's bi or something, I mean there's an entire manga based on that alternate universe in ep 26. That is of course another love triangle manga. Of course... I haven't finished the anime though... NOBODY SPOIL ME IF MY PREDICTIONS ARE WRONG. (I've only watched up to 24 and heard about the alternate universe in 26 so yeah)

Finished it. Wasn't a bad ending... thought it was a bit strange, but I thought it was tied in a neat bow.

2 episodes into FLCL. The very least I can say is....WHAT THE FUCK? In a good way though, it's deep....I think. Idk, I guess I like it because it's so different.

Haven't tried it... saw a little of the dub but I haven't really finished it.

Wow, that ending was awful for the characters, and it kind of dissapointed me. I can't believe everyone died... freakin Rei clones giving people their dreams but at the same time 'asploding them. To tell you the truth, it sort of made me laugh though because of how over the top it was. :awesome: After all of the surreal "I AM NOW UNITED WITH YOU, WE ARE HUGE NUDE ANGELIC PEOPLE" stuff, I really didn't get what happened. I'm starting to watch "ef- A Tale of Memories". It seems good so far. The art is amazing along with the music.
