Or do what a quality developer would do and post pone disc production until the content is complete, like Crytek.

The DLC Team was indeed working on these maps before we shipped Reach. The nature of development allows particular teams to roll off a project just as others are being thrust directly into the thick of the fight (Concept Artists aren't called upon to do a lot of testing, for example). DLC just went content complete last night at midnight. None of these maps ever had any potential to make launch.
This is pretty much the same time frame in which the heroic map pack was release.
DLC has to come out early to seize on a game's momentum. The problem I have with Halo DLC is that segmenting the userbase does not mesh well with matchmaking. If I'm going to pay for maps, I want them integrated in every appropriate playlist. And do not match me with people that don't have them, because that makes the chances I'll ever get to play the map next to nothing. I know there are DLC-specific playlists, but come on. These maps don't belong in the same playlist. The whole point of more maps is so we can go into any given playlist and not see the same 3 locations over and over and over. I would very much like to hear how they plan to address this problem.
Why is it everytime I come back to this thread someone is over-complaining about something about this game? Yes the game can improve, but if you're seriously crying about this than honestly consider any potential reason why the maps were NOT released. Stop thinking like a spoiled child and consider the different scenarios about the situation. Bungie could seriously move on to another game and we could get no DLC, but instead we have a game developer who actually GAF about what its fanbase says. Please stop this kind of bitching. [/rage]
Sorry, needed to whine a bit myself. Anyways, I think the maps look really interesting. The first one will really make the Ranger Loadout for the Elites useful and I am so glad to see that. The second map, the one that I think looks a bit like Infinity (atmospherically speaking), I think will be a new favorite, just because I'm a sucker for desert-like terrain. The third will be definitely a different (or similar) experience. It looks like an icy form of Boneyard (style-wise), but definitely with some new ways to navigate the map.

The reason I play firefight more than multiplayer is because it isn't the crock of shit that multiplayer matchmaking is. I prefer to not play slayer every single game when I want to play objective, and on the worst maps yet to be introduced to the series.
If the game had dedicated servers I probably would not have played more than 100 games total of firefight since launch.
Then play firefight and don't buy the map pack.
I miss dedicated servers, too. I miss being able to settle in on a server that was set up with a map and gametype rotation that appealed to me and find a groove. Matchmaking is so jarring. After every round I really have to think hard about whether I want to keep playing. I wouldn't even play multiplayer as much as I do (which is not much) if not for the challenges. Firefight is just so much more relaxing and free of a lot of bullshit.
If you take a look at the picture at the top of the page (), you'll notice that the Spartan there is wearing the Operator helmet with the HUL[3] addon. Though, if you look at the available addons for the Operator helmet currently available, you can see that there's only UA/HUL and CNM. DLC armor anyone?
