Foot is messed up. looky at the back of the foot. Fix the bump on the right hand too, it's inverted.

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
It's always been that way, even in H3. That's where the UV seam is.

I can't fix that, i tried already. Btw its the lighting that effects the bump, it could be inverted or not, like rooster said

You need to take a look at your refs again because so many parts of that gun are off in proportion and look. For instance, the retractable stock bar, the sights, and that reflex sight. Also, the shape of the upper half of the gun. Get an fp view and see how it should look.

<picture>
Not really the right place to post that at all... and I've never come across that in Maya. Start a new scene and try rendering and see if it's your Maya or your scene.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
Im sorry but i needed the crit, my thread never gets viewed so, i thought id shove it in here, its also in my thread but here is quicker for a bit off feedback, thanks, ill try it with just a cube and stuff :)
E:
It works with a different render scene, but it might be my RAM on my computer, or my computer specs, not enough memory to render it, or my graphics card, because i know my graphics card is wank lol

It's not like the ship needs to be interesting at every turn. You'll be looking out over the map.

I've spent some time doing just that.
Overall, the design is based on Mass's concept sketch of the exterior, which I've accepted and pushed off to BTGII to start modeling this weekend. So, yes, glass super thick plastic-like material floors and windows throughout the bridge. The lack of visible windows was a major problem with the original Draco, which is why I've moved the gunner into the bridge and accepted Mass's extremely "transparent" design. Also, it just seems right after looking at the Spirit of Fire for literally hours today.
e: As it's a design aspect, I guess I can ask here - should the windows be heavily tinted so it's hard to see in from the outside but still possible? Or no tinting? Or opaque golden reflection like on the Cairo?
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
It should look like the bridge of a military vessel, not the lobby of an upmarket hotel.
More consoles. More fuseboxes and relays. More access hatches.

Why not do what everyone is doing and be lazy and make a competition on its design? :)

Its polies, but remember I modelled like half of the model in triangles, with each triangle being counted as a poly.

Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
My guess would be he duplicated the mesh, put a slight push modifier on it, gave it a white wire material. The original mesh just got a blue transparent material.
-
Re: The Studio Quick-Crit Thread
@Fear: It was basically what Corndogman described. I duplicated the mesh with turbosmooth, added a push modifier, and then applied a gradient as the opacity map so that it fades across the mesh.
The material was a forced wire with a white diffuse and some self-illumination.
I got the extra spiny effect by accident, although, you could probably duplicate that somehow either in the shader properties or using more gradients.

The foregrip is ugly as sin, the red dot doesn't look rounded enough, and the wire going to the laser pointer looks too thick.

The clouds are ok, just need more depth, you need to establish a point of light then give the clouds shadows wherever they face the opposite direction, or where ever the bases of "hills" are formed by the clouds. You need to show depth, which can be done by making the planes that are further away more the color of the atmosphere, aka the color of the sky. Also go look at some tutorials on lighting, shadows actually sort of tend to bleed the color of the environment, while in the light the things true color is shown. So your shadows would be a mix of brown and dark orange, and the places in sunlight would be a golden copper tone. Since I have no idea what style you are going for, I can not give anymore cit on the type of brush strokes and other things to use.

clouds are 100% ingame, although i see how they could use some shadowing

So, I think I'm done with my website. Crit please.
http://www.feignphoto.com
I need a better photo for my bio page, the one that's currently there is a placeholder. Ignore the weird line on the gallery, I'm trying to fix that, and I will also pay for the full version so that it doesn't have the copyright etc.
In fact, the gallery is rough for now, there's a few things I need to fix/figure out, but at least it works, albeit messily (incorrect shadow size, lousy thumbnails, etc etc)
