haha that's awesome polar.
I think it's perfect for an egg, p0lar. I say leave it.
Penguin. Do you want me to unwrap the stand seperate from the turret? Because it is a large weapon so there is a lot to unwrap. You could get more detail in the turret if you have two textures.
Also, when you rip the turret of the stand it is a seperate object anyway, so you want as much detail as you can get.
512 would look horrible. I was thinking 1024... And I know I could fit it all on one texture, but you could get so much more detail on both objects with two.
Actually, it should be okay on one...
no, 512 would be fine. it would be shit if you unwrapped it like shit.
the things is so damn simple, there's no way you need a 1k for it.
if you want me to prove it to you, send me the model and i'll UV it for you the way you're supposed to make a proper UVmap, and it'll only take me like an hour (propably less) maybe you'll learn something from it. hell, maybe i'll even record the entire process, just to make sure you don't say such silly things anymore, because you will know how to properly do it from then on.
i'm not sure who unweapped that hornet thing, but i'd get laughed at by my colleagues if i actually tried to get away with that.
Well you are the profesional, and we are not Lol. So of corse you can do it perfect. This will be my 4th unwrap so it won't be perfect. Won't it be blurry and not as detailed with a 512 texture though?
it not about your texture size, it's about texel density. (and in the end, texture quality of course)
if you want me to this though, add me on AIM (neurological6) since I'm going home now, and i can't access modacity from my house computer, which is weird, but whatever. (i'll be back online in an hour and a half from posting this or so)
i'll record the process of me unwrapping it for your learning purposes.
