IIrc, they rebuilt the search cache when they finished upgrading. For some reason it only did pre-Modacity, or some really early shit that nobody would search for.

before the move it was just as shitty imo

Agreed, though I'm not really seeing many issues nowadays.

It is not hard to find the member list currently. Two clicks at the top of the page, that is all.
