Can dedicated servers host custom maps?

I want tto put up a dedicated server with custom maps but I have been reading that you can't. Is that the case? can I host a DS with custom maps that players can download?

Yes, they can. You must enter under the playlist file the map name as it is seen if you were to host a network or custom game through H2V.

You can make them yourself, look at the example.hpl file.

I have downloaded a few maps from this site and only one of them work. I have the correct name of the map (not file name) but the console says Map missing or invalid. I am tryign to get Beach Battle to work.

Anyone have any clues?

Beach battle is simply called Beach battle ingame.

That is exactly what i have and it still says invalid or mising map.

Ok I got it working finally. I reinstalled the server and now it works. Not sure what caused the problem.

This is my last question. Is it possible to create custom games in the game then exporting it to the server?

I guess you mean gametypes, no you gotta type all the stuff in a hpl file.

That really sucks. Creating custom games could have been so much easier and faster if you could use the actual game. This game could be so awesome online if they didn't mess it up so bad.
