That mod is horrible compared to what I have seen. :P Look around halomods for some awesome maps, etc. :P Glad to see people are still around the h2 modding scene though.
Halomods.com looks pretty dead.
No seriously, pages from that site haven't loaded for me for the past month.
Also, one thing about this mod that's sparked an interest with me is the fact that it's supported by XBox Connect. It has it's own section under Games. It's also aimed to balance out the weapons, which it's done a pretty good job of.
Regardless, I have seen crazy mods compared to this though, there's a video on youtube titled "Why we mod" that shows off some crazy shit.
Is this for 360 too? Or do you get banned for modding or something? Might be quicker to ask here.
Assault rfle is WAY too fast
@lat. This is for Xbox Only.
I assume Grenadiac is busy with personal life to maintain the site now. The site is only up 1/3 days or so.
Two of the mods in the "Why we mod" video are made by me :P Too bad all of the hosted files are now gone. ;____; The good ol' days.
But thats why they made the new xbox experience :haw:
Ah, yes... H2:CE. Pretty much my very first endeavor in modding, minus the Halo 1 trained xbe. Brings me back to the days of making installers and retexturing waterworks...
This would have been great on the PC. Fucking locked EK. (Yeah, this would exclude the H2 stock maps, but whatever. More reason to make the H3 maps)
I need to update my Xbox's XBMC apparently... What version are you running Mookz?
I've had a modded XBox since last Summer.
I need to get a bigger hard drive for it though, the current one is from the 8GB model, I think.
and your cache is still checked.......
so even if you do a cold boot off the orig dash with the modded maps in the cache, you still run the risk.
that answer was just ugh.... anyways, back more on topic..
Im deciding to bust out my old xbox and replace unleashX with the new 8.10 final xbmc for the hell of it, keeping unleashx in my apps folder just in case..
Whenever I ran either version of H2, I just cleared my cache (format X:, Y:, and Z: I think). Then you could coldboot with no problems.
With H2:CE, all the maps are in the local folder, so nothing needs to be modded in the DLC folder either.
Pooky: It is not campaign compatible. Only multiplayer was modded in full. At some point, someone (Crimson King maybe?) tried to mod it into campaign, but it always kept freezing.
You may want to search around before you take my word for it (Because I'm not entirely sure), but Bungie doesn't care about modding Halo 2 on live anymore. Apparently, if you mod on matchmaking (Which you SHOULD NOT do) you are booted from live and you can't sign in for 30 seconds or something like that. Then you just sign in again and can do whatever you want. I'm not sure what the exact method of loading the maps was during this process, so once again, search around.
Open an FTP to the XBox and use the Serenity Installer from http://www.freewebs.com/halo2-ce/ but leave New DLC Maps unchecked, it's unsupported.
And no unfortunately, it's not for the campaign. I wish it was. It would pwn ass. It's supported by XBox Connect though, but I haven't seen any servers up. But if there ever are, I'll be ready >:V
Whoa, a remix of an old remix, what's the songs name?
And I remember this mod when it first came out...its been awhile too.
Man, I almost forgot about the freewebs site. That was supposed to be temporary, but then h2ce.net was taken down forever... Man, now I'm all sad.
Now that I look at my tutorials and FAQ, now I'm even more sad because I remember how bad of a writer I was back then (though, that's not to say that I'm not all that better now). Nice going, Mooky.
This reminds me of the good old days of the beginning of Halo 2 modding. Ah, how amazing it was to see something simple like drivable Pelicans and such...
I wish I would have modded my Xbox...
Sometimes, everyone has to bond together and worship muki.
That's pretty sweet although I'd imagine you can't play with anyone else VIA Live.
Silent: For a while, we had a XBL version, but only a couple people used it because nobody wanted to be banned. It's probably somewhere deep within the interwebs, but it was like, version 1.5. The final version was after 3.5.
Good point. We should get on that. Anyone up for this? I have pretty much zero expertise in everything except for texture/audio editing, so all positions are open.
Girlfriend and Weed are too time consuming :P
Wasn't there a chip you could turn on and off without getting banned?
You guys do realize that they're already teams working on tools.. not idiotic/immature kids either, guys whom program for a living... they just have lives and don't work on them much.
Symphony by Hybrid. You're probably thinking of Finished Symphony from SSX and SSX Tricky, but that was actually a final mix, Symphony is the original.
There is XBox Connect, it has a designated section for Halo 2 CE and a few other H2 XBox mods, but I haven't seen any servers up since I modded my box.
Here's some gameplay (not mine):
Obviously the non-serenity version.
That is cool. The Assualt rifle is a wee bit to fast. But still cool.
Multishotting on the battle rifle can be fixed by making the thing overheat after each shot.
Superbounces could be discouraged by dropping kill barriers on the map in places where no vehicle or player should be.
Unfortunately, I don't think BXR is fixable with tags.
True, BXRs are still in there, same with YY and BXB. BXRing with the M6D is harder than with the BR because it doesn't spray all over with crazy burst fire. Plus, with the weapons being much more accurate and long-range friendly, it's not so easy to get in close to use the melee combos.
Button combos never really bothered me too much anyway, tbh, I joined the H2 community late, after the 360 was out, so I pretty much saw them as a legitimate part of the game. I'm actually pretty impressed if someone manages to double/quad-shot me. It's not exactly an easy thing to pull off. Very possible, but difficult as hell between the adrenaline rush, needing precise button timing, and having your finger off of the analog stick.
As for BXRs, I've learned through my fabtacular XBox Connect adventures that crouch-meleeing is an easy way to avoid BXRs and melees in general. But regardless, I use combos, other people use combos, fair trade. Honestly, I'd rather get killed by a BXR than a point blank rocket lolol.
