you could try deleting your ClientRegistry.blob file and restart steam...
that usually helps with quirky steam problems.
more info bacon please, i'm a bit retarded in this shit.
its in your steam root folder, close steam, delete ClientRegistry.blob, restart steam.
it will say updating platform files and then you can log in again.
didnt work

:(
any other people have any ideas :S?

These guys may have a few answers, I just skimmed over it though.
I have the packaged version of UT3, no steam integration, so I personally can't help you lol
You can put your retail key in and get the Steam version if you wish. (That was to the mookz)
Yes, but having to sign into steam every time I want to play would be a pain in the ass tbh, I'm not much of a steam user in general
Steam signs in automatically when you turn on the computer, no need to sign in again when you want to play the game.
But besides that I would NEVER EVER recommend someone using steam's launcher for UT3.
Steam hates UT3 for some reason, and it's the only game I've ever had problems with on steam.
i found the solution people.
and it works with any steam game, beacuse all sorts of games are getting it.
what it is is a corruption of some local data for the game to fix simply do this
Once i did that, it did a mini update on UT3 to fix what was missing and ALLLLLLLL was goooood :DQuote:
For anyone still stuck:
I noticed that after I installed Half-Life 2(for the second time ..properly without errors), (In Steam) the "Updating starting.." next to it didn't move, after many PC and Steam restarts.
I tried everything everyone else suggested, and here's what worked for me:
Right-click Half-Life 2, go to Properties, Local files:
(1) Verify integrity of game cache
(2)[most importantly] Defragment cache files
Defragment, lastly as I did, worked for me. Though I don't know if this will work for everyone.
i might put this in my sig for refference.
Enjoy!

P.s. had to troll across like 8 forums to find this D:
