[CONTEST] Cerebrum-Synapse Logo Contest

That's right! We're letting you design the logos for Cerebrum and Synapse!

We're looking for two, related logos for Cerebrum and Synapse. Cerebrum is the webapp and Synapse is the server app. Design two original logos, one for each app.

A logo with the name of the app in text as well as a symbol is recommended.


The contest ends on July 1st, at 12:00AM EDT.
Please, one entry per person.

Entries must be minimum 800x800 (you can make the actual logo as tall or wide as you want, leaving the rest blank) PNG-formatted images with transparency and you must be ready to supply source files (PSDs, SVGs, XCFs).

All submissions must be Halo-related, or we'll pretty much just consider them spam.

jcap edit: Actually, scratch that. Creativity and originality over "Halo."
bacon edit: I still prefer "Halo" to nothing.

The winner, as decided by the Cerebrum-Synapse Development Team, will have their logos used for the project and will be awarded the ranking of "ONI Spec-Ops" on Cerebrum, plus an undecided prize chosen by the rest of the dev team.

Don't know if you want any more detail than that for just an icon, its just the plain vector shape right now.
I can also make vista format .ico files at 256x256 if you need them.

If no one makes a better pair of icons than the one(s) you have suggested (since, in the form I'm actually using, they're not the ones you made, but I'm still crediting you for the idea), you'll be both be awarded SpecOps and we'll have to think of a secondary prize that can be split.

But Mendicant was a badass mother Flooder. And the red-and-red doesn't really contrast, you know?

Though maybe blue Mendicant and red Offensive...

Well, little late, I made blue for syn and red for cerebrum, but they can be changed... anyways my contributions.... cerebrum's is the index, and syn is 101 guilty spark for those who can't tell. Obviously in this large state they are pretty jagged, but I am guessing they will be scaled down much, so will look better.

Mendicant should be red, while Offensive would be Blue. This fits because Offensive was constructed to hold back Mendicant Bias because Mendicant had gone rampant.

Also, sKc_Chains, I would recommend making your paths into shape layers and then using the distort tool. Otherwise it over supersamples, like it did for you.

That's what I'm currently using on Twitter. It represents Cerebrum and Synapse.

Not really Halo related... : /

The ring, which is supposed to be a Halo ring.. I took a brain for cerebrum, and put it in the centre of a ring. I took a neuron for synapse, and put it in the centre of a ring.

They don't need to be Halo related. They just need to be creative, cool, and pretty.

Also, someone do some art with the names of the apps!

Well, I think creativity triumphs whether it's Halo-related. We're talking about looking professional. If you can come up with something completely original that blows anything Halo away, I'd be extremely happy.

I still prefer "Halo" to something completely unrelated and abstract. But the brain/neuron work because they are related to the names of the apps.

I think what's most important really is the entire logo. Not just a symbol, but the actual word. My favorite is when the symbol is integrated into the text somehow, and then as the icon for the app you "pull out" that.

But again, by just sticking to Halo, you're asking for something cheesy and limiting whatever creativity there is to an extremely small area. Especially with the names not even being Halo-related, it's difficult to have them fit hand-in-hand.

Maybe saying a Halo-related logo can sway a "tie" one way or another would be better. Personally, I think that if we let creativity run wild, we'll get something leaps and bounds better than if we add limitations to it. Those logos I linked to are beautifully designed.

Well, the contest is over, and it's time for us to decide the winner.
