I like the style- it's definitely Halo-esque. I can't quite figure out the layout/gameplay style, but it's certainly promising. Is this your first map? Or just the first you've posted here?

Is it going to be totally enclosed or are there going to be "outdoor" sections. It's hard to tell from the pics you posted weather you still need to do walls or what's happening.

Oh and a good sky from Con wouldn't hurt either. I'm not sure if this has really been done before to this extent or if it would be suitable to how this map was designed, but I really think giving this a space sky similar to the colorful one in Halo Reach would be awesome. This could be a Forerunner space station or satellite flying around a shield world or something, with good looking energy shields protecting the players from vacuum.
Or maybe another gas harvesting station at another gas giant?
I think it should stay near the ground if anything... not real sure about space.
0:55 - end has some good scenes of the nebula and gas clouds apparently surrounding Reach. Stuff like that being seen where the sky is and maybe a bit of a shield world in the background would look sweet. Actually, just try and replicate this picture in the sky but with more nebulas and gas clouds floating around somewhere as well:
This station could be one of those mining station things hovering around the planet in the foreground that's being chopped up for resources.
Wow, it looks epic. I have one small thing though, and it's just me, but I don't like the upgraded scenery and devices you have set up. They should just be the original Halo assests imo.

Well, there aren't any stock halo standing teleporters, or doors that are the appropriate size for this, so not much I can do about that!

Alright so here's the plan. Remove grenades on spawn. Remove Rocket reserve ammo Lower sniper reserve ammo to 4, from 8. Make it so you can't jump onto the bridge from below. Add covie boxes and shit. Make all teleporters two way. Switch OS and sniper rifle positions.
The grenades that spawn by the teleporter exits make it easy to just spam frags into the base.
Thought I saw some untextured faces in a few spots.

Sel, just come up with a good name and don't tell anyone except extremely trustable people what you may want it to be... It should fit whatever design the map ends up going with imo, if you go with the space station style that could influence the name... Etc.

I did not DO anything first of all.
For one, you do not have valid proof and this forum has taken a lead drop since you became moderator.
SFloyd was the one that was in the IRC and posted the Ip of the server to places such as 4chan and a few random irc channels on gamesurge.
And even if it was me, you took action in your usual immature manner of trying to press the "eject" button more than once.
SFloyd was more than willing to claim credit for the greifings since he doesn't give two fucks about this community but regularly joins the IRC to sift through the debris of a community you are tyrannizing.
But wait, you wouldn't take the chance of being proven wrong.

I was mostly kidding around. Sorry that I shitted up your thread Selentic, I mostly meant it as a joke/was trying to make a comment about how people always squabble over you for some reason.

A) Any further discussion on these irrelevant points in this thread will result in Infractions. If you'd like to make a thread in the appropriate forum about it, be my guest.
B) I never asked to be a moderator, one of the existing moderators recommended that I should be promoted. TheGhost and jcap then approved this after I was extended an invitation.
C) jcap was the one who made the decision to ban DEE. He and I both had proof that DEE's Minecraft player destroyed blocks, SFloyd was also found guilt and consequently banned as well for the same thing. In addition one of the two allegedly invited the other to the server and then that player proceeded to invite people from other message boards and 4chan to come grief our server.
D) Griefing is generally a one time ban offense on almost every Minecraft server I've ever played on or heard of, jcap and I fully support that policy on the Modacity Minecraft Server. I guess jcap decided that it was also serious enough to warrant a site-ban.
E) Interestingly enough, the most common comment I've heard from the staff is "at least he [Freelancer] still takes the site business seriously". If users can't follow our very simple to understand Acceptable Use Policy they can feel free to bugger off. If they're leaving because they have some kind of personal vendetta against me or because it's a cool bandwagon to jump on, they're free to do that as well.
Now, any posts not about Selentic's new map (currently named Requiem) in this thread will be met with an appropriate Infraction and soft deletion to prevent any more thread shitting.

Alright so here's the planned changes from today's test.

Move the teleporter in the bottom mid into the center of the platform, remove camo, replace os with camo/os powerup.
More cover on the bridge.
Other than that, we should be pretty much good to go.

Ugh- portals frigging blow. I found during Precipice that portalling inclusively works better than exclusively. I.e. Portal so that you move from area to area, rather than sealing off sections so they won't render. Idk if that makes sense, but it worked for me a bit.

What higuy said. Sorry, I didn't see your response until now, or I would have elaborated.
What I've found is that the game is better at only rendering a section that you're in versus not-rendering a section you're not in.
That sounds bizarre, but take a look back at the tutorial map in the HEK. They portalled the hallway so that when the player is standing in it, everything else disappears. When I tried to do the reverse in Precipice, i.e. portal an area so it would disappear when I -wasn't- in it, the game gave me bizarre visual portal errors. Therefore I suggest portalling inclusive areas first, and then the areas like higuy suggested. Also exactportals are the best for everything ever.
Note that the entire art is totally random to a point, so what worked for me might turn out to not work at all for your map :ugh:
Because it renders BSP in multiple passes. I've seen that it renders lightmaps first then does a second pass for textures, so it makes sense that it does extra passes for other shader features such as reflections. As for over 100k, thats including all non bsp triangles as well, so scenery, weapons, sky, etc. The final tri count for your BSP at that particular camera point is 74224. You could turn off reflection cube maps on geometry that you dont really notice them on to confirm this, could help to reduce your tri count.

This is pretty much as low as I can get it without seriously compromising the visual appeal of the map so any other suggestions?
Also I'm curious what fog is, there's no fog in the map, aside from the skybox fog, and after removing the skybox, it still lists 14k tris being used for it. As far as I'm concerned that's easily 14k tris that could be cut out, if anyone knows how.
Try Globals to see if anything in those tags is causing fog.
