I call shenanigans! Oh wait...
seen em both, thought they kinda sucked horribly.
I thought it looked alright O.o
Basically I thought it was the lack of effort that ruined both. They both use the stock static mesh cliffs, and this version basically uses UT3 textures only, no remakes of the original forerunner textures.
I actually tried that a while ago as well, and the results were indeed great. But even still, they didn't even attempt to do it.
lacks effort, pretty lame recreation.
It's always the artists that design the amazing new maps in most games. Unreal has a wide selection of beautiful custom maps. But when I see a recreated map like this done with absolutely no effort on look, it feels like a rip in the throat.
I don't care so much about the recreation of bitmaps and textures of Bloodgulch but I really like the look and feel of this "lame" map. The Structures could use some work though.
Direct me to the Timberland one please. I did some searching and wasn't able to find it.
I'd give this a B+ for effort, however, I'm not that impressed since the map is unoriginal. But UT3 vehicles on Blood Gulch sounds so damned cool that I'm tempted to buy UT3 during the spring break. I would've been more impressed if the creators combined the "Halo elements" with some original ideas rather than copy the geometry.
its pretty shitty tbh.
Doesn't really look too much like Blood Gulch TBH.
The middle section (near rocket spawn) is done nicely, but other than that its crap. It LOOKS amazing, due to the fact that Unreal just looks amazing, and the grass is a fun touch, but they are missing all the tunnels/cliffs that made it good. There's not even the giant hill in the back of blue base.
... You mean in the back of red base. Go play more halo.
There's a bit of a stigma in Unreal to reuse stock UT packages (or common mesh/texture packages like from Hourences) to cut down on filesize.
That being said -- I don't follow that stigma so you'll see mostly custom decos in my maps personally...
I give them an A+ for trying.
I give them a F+ for what came out.
Seriously, this does not look like bloodgulch, there's no cliffs, there's no forerunner textures, no caves, nothing.
Spend a little more time on it.
Well it was just an alpha with UT stuff in it...right?:confused2:
Site's dead as shit.
Anything on youtube? Or even better, do these guys have a site?
Dunno, but somebody made coagulation

Yay, Bret finally finished it :D.
Sweet. Not exactly accurate, but it's definitely coag.
Textures on the bases suck ass though.
Database error.
Actually I thought the caves were the most inaccurate part of the level, save for the weapon placement. ;P The outside looks the most like Coag.
