My text sometimes disappears within half a second.

I'll be playing, and someone will die or something, and the text will disappear quickly. Sometimes it reappears, but it really gets annoying. Anyone know whats wrong?

    Text lag.

    Restart your game.

I'd suggest running in windowed mode. Minimizing from fullscreen causes text lag.

It's possible to keep switching your ingame resolution until the text lag goes away, then just switch it back to normal. I don't know how or why this works, and I don't know the best way to do it. I just know it works most of the time.

I found the best way to fix it is to keep alt-tabing until it works again. Although alt-tabbing is usually the reason it stops working in the first place.

You get textlag when you maximize from a minimized state, and there are currently messages on-screen. If you maximize when there are no messages, you will not get textlag and it will also remove any existing textlag. I learned about this from my stunting days.
