No lie, you need to get a lawyer involved. A principal isn't legally allowed to silence you, even if it involves another student. You might go down for a harassment charge, but god damn, if you're not careful this thing could spiral out of control fast, and things could get a lot worse. Make sure you get written statements from your two friends about what happened, and seeing as how you're from California, I must ask if your school has cameras. If they do, they're obligated to retain the footage for a certain amount of time. You're a fucking idiot for even making the joke, and then touching her, but she's obviously mentally unstable. If this gets any worse, insist on a psychiatric evaluation for her.

I was sitting with another friend of mine at lunch today (let's call her "Ashley"), when Ruth walked up to me (yes, she did have a black eye). She started talking shit, trying to set me off so I would do something stupid. I didn't have a chance to react, because Ashley got very... vocal, very quickly. The two cussed each other out for a few moments before Ruth ran off towards the principal's office. Ashley didn't lay a finger on Ruth, but I'm afraid that Ruth might stretch the truth a bit to get Ashley in trouble.
I don't want to get Ashley to get dragged into this mess as well, but I haven't seen her since. It was just Ashley and I at the time, so there were no other witnesses. I didn't see Ashley after school like I normally do, so I'm seriously concerned that she got suspended, although she may have just been tied up with something.
If Ashley does get caught up in this web, what should I do? I'm not sure the principal would believe my testimony, as he still thinks Ruth is still a perfect little angel. Any advice?
A few friends of mine told me to go to my counselor to try to get this all sorted out, but I haven't gone yet.
I also got my dad to call the principal, although I haven't heard back from him yet, so I don't know how it went.
