    The map making process is over all a bit easier, yet still a bit more challenging in other aspects such as shaders. Also, h2v tools has about 95% of the features its capable of doing disabled or removed compared to the hce editing kit which only had about 2% of it's features disabled by default. If you didn't know already, your basically limited to only making multiplayer map bsps in h2. Thats pretty much the key differences.

    Have they improved compatability, as far as file formats are cocerned.

    More image formats are supported for compiling to bitmaps. The .ass export pluggin only works for 3ds max 6 to 8, not 9.

    But the whole "model your map in 3DS MAX, then import it into sapein" process remains relevatively unchanged.
