i've never been able to recover a corrupt file. Save all files in at least two locations. I save in about 5 (paranoid as hell).

when ever i get a corrupt file i just say eh it wasnt important because my max files that went corrupt werent even close to important except for that one max file with all my bipeds in posing for rendering, made me pissed

Since I went insanely mad losing my model.. I'm staying away from 3ds max for a couple of days.
