I feel that there are too many "Happy Birthday" threads going on, so, from now on, congratulate them in this thread, alright guys?
Fuck that, people deserve birthday threads from friends in a community where a lot of us have been associated with each other a long time. Don't try to ride Snowy's coattails bitching about something irrelevant. it's the off-topic, it's fine to have birthday threads. Also, grunt already has a b-day thread.
I'm not trying to ride on anyone's coattails. While Grunt may have his own thread, I'm trying to de-clutter the Off-Topic section. By your logic, Snaf, we shouldn't have a separate Official Youtube thread, or a separate quotes thread. While I wasn't around at the time of their creation, they must have been created for a reason: reduce clutter. While you may argue that a person deserves their own thread for their birthday, shouldn't the creators of a Youtube video, which obviously took at least SOME time and effort, have their own individual threads, too? No, becuase creating another, individual thread every other day would clutter the forums like no tomorrow!
I'm just trying to reduce some clutter on the forums by unifiying many potental future Happy Birthday threads into a single, streamlined one.
I was going to suggest maybe doing a weekly thing, where a new thread is made each week with the birthdays for the whole week. That's if the mods decide to outlaw birthday threads.
Though I'm with snaf, I'd rather have birthday threads. Its more personal that way, I mean the idea of the birthday thread is that one of your friends loves you enough to make a thread for you.
Even though thats pretty insignificant, "its the thought that counts."
birthdays: directly related to forum member interaction and ties and friendship
youtube: constant barrage of videos almost entirely unrelated to the forum members (save llama juice and/or tutorial videos)
this thread is entirely unnecessary. birthday threads don't clutter the forums.
