I heard they were trying a setup that used both of the DL-DVI ports on the graphics card which fed to the TH2G box, then to the three monitors. However I'm trying to figure out how they would make the computer see it as "one monitor" if they're using two DL-DVI ports on the same graphics card...

And SLI doesn't work across two ports yet either, so...

Using multiple inputs is nothing new - IBM's T221 used multiple inputs to reach 3840x2400

Thankfully ATI's got the right idea...

Oh I see, well in that case it may be a possibility.

Depending on who has the best cards when I build a totally new rig, I'll decide then. Though I assume that Nvidia won't be far behind ATI when it comes to multi-monitor support now that they've been thrown into the mud. If I had the option to buy completely new components right now I'd definitely buy ATI series cards for the multi-monitor support, but stick with Intel processing.

However I don't have the money to buy a new motherboard that supports ATI cards in crossfire plus two ATI cards. The system I have I'm pretty much maxed out with supported hardware at the moment.

Now if Matrox uses both DVI ports on the graphics card, and if each port can output the same bandwidth... That means that we could have:

    2 x DL-DVI = 6 x 1680 x 1050 (10,080 x 2100) max

    Right?

You might want to work on your math

Running two th2go is already possible if you wanted 6 screens as well. I'd expect nvidia to bring the multi-monitor setup used on their workstation cards to the desktop at a later date, if G300 doesn't already have it.

Go play some source games with your setup, they work great~

I thought Nvidia had multi-monitor over SLI a while ago? That's what made the Big Bang 2 drivers a "big deal".

The "mockup" of the Fermi board that was shown only had a single DVI Port because it was in the Tesla configuration; They can probably easily throw another port or two on there, but getting it to work on the same level as ATI's solution will take quite a bit more architectural work. They'd have to actually put stuff in to handle the extra ports.

Of course, considering the fact that the mockup was faked, no one knows what the final product will actually have.

ATI's cards are probably going to perform close to or better than Fermi while costing a lot less. Unless you plan on doing scientific computer, you'll probably be better served by the ATI card.

    Why? I'm going off of the existing TH2G specs of 3 x 1680 x 1050

    Also, guess what I'm doing:

Asking for a dog to pee on your expensive computer? Or maybe bench testing something. Also, wheres your case. I see everything but a case.

I was thinking about doing that with my PC, but are there any hazards other than knocking it down or having an animal touch it? I have no animals in this house, btw.

How dusty is you work area? If you want to go case less I'd suggest a GOOD tech bench. Not a shitty home made one like mine.

Good tech benches that I've seen:
    Antec Skeleton

    SunbeamTech Ultra-Tech Station

    Look Blue! A clue!
