You can't really tell it's the engine from Halo 3 just by a few externally taken screenshots. Keep in mind its obviously still in development, and they might've just used some halo 3 assets as place holders until the new ones are complete. Remember the original halo 3 spartan laser screenshot, that was using the halo 2 first person arms? This one.

Why would anyone want that ugly ass scope for a BR? Rest looks really cool imo.

Looks cool, although just looks like Halo 3 + 1, I thought reach was going to be CRAZY different.

Cool pictures though, so its already in testing phase? They let some random douche in to play.

Keep in mind this is set before H1. It's entirely possible that they're using similar textures, and you can't exactly tell how detailed they are.

It's just I would have expected them to stay more with the h2/3-era aesthetic design.

Also the pretty glaring hard-edge of the wheel right next to the gun.

Not quite sure, but it just doesn't look any different from Halo 3, even seeing it through poop-cam pictures.

For everyone complaining about the look of the BR, I don't think it's the same BR as in Halo 2 and 3 or if it's a BR at all. There was a wide range of prototype BR's going around the UNSC before the final design seen in the games. This could just be one of them.

Everything's obviously in Alpha stage. You can see the UV stretching in the cliffs in the first pic as well as a bunch of reused Halo 3 assets. I really hope the HUD is a placeholder. Doesn't look too good to me.

Also I think I spy a new type of rocket launcher in the 3rd pic. Look like a cross between the standard rocket launcher and the missile pod. Return of the target seeking rockets from Halo 2?

So... This is NOT going to be class-based, as many had been predicting, but more of a Rainbow 6/COD/H3 hybrid?

I'm reserving all judgments until Bungie gives us some official pics; I suggest you do the same.

Also, H1 hog textures may be placeholder, or it may be heavily inspired by the H1 'Hog.
This IS set directly before the events of H1, after all...

The guy who took the pics and posted them on MLG forums, says that it holds 12 shots per magazine, and fires one shot at time, but has a longer range than the battle rifle. The needler\carbine thing fires needles (obviously), and causes a superdetonation when 3 needles contact a target. With only 3 needles requireing an explosion, it most definately fires slower than the normal needler, or the carbine for that matter.
