I finally got around to seeing it myself yesterday, it was absolutely stunning. And I love the 3D effect.

It's amazing how the brain works, at the start of it all, the action scenes seemed somewhat blurry due to the brain not being used to this new level of cinema, however you can feel it adjusting and near the end, you can enjoy the film in it's full 3D glory!

And my god, yes, the environments and fauna+flora were absolutely stunning.

I think you're reading this off wrong. Most people if you called them a furry would not have any idea of what the hell you're talking about, us being on the internet, we can make a connection like that plausible as furries are a huge deal in our "society". What he wanted to do I think, is to create an entirely different alien species, but because of the whole falling in love factor, he had to give them somewhat humanoid personalities and parts so people felt more passion for the love then "ewww bestiality". Remember in district 9, the cross species prostitution? I bet you didn't go "awwww yeaa". Anyways, furries are people who masturbate to animals with humanoid parts (no shit) and so when we see these humanoid species, we automatically think OMFG FURRY. Same effect as when you see a cross with bent ends you think "omfg nazis" when it is a very important sign in Buddhism.

i know but seriously, huge eyes, pointed ears, cat noses, blue skin with tigerstripes, and tails? isn't there some better way to make them seem human-like and not gross everyone out totally, but also not make them so painfully furry-like?

I'm with Rossmum, but on a different level. At first I thought "Wtf why would Cameron design an alien species like this. Is he a furry?" I mean seriously. It's Pocahontas with furries.

I thought the na'vi were cool... I didn't associate them with furries at any time. They were simply human like in appearance, I'm assuming to draw in the viewer emotionally.
