Well they're back aka new steam ui is usable.

actually holy sh#t just heard the new sounds firsthand, is there any way to change them to the old sounds?

double edit like a boss- it won't let you go back to the old ui anymore, alright valve you can quit trolling now!

Here's the old message sound, if you hate the new one like I do. Put it in C:\Program Files\Steam\friends and set the file to read-only, otherwise the new message.wav will auto-load back in when you get messaged.

Run steam with the -clearbeta argument and you get old steam!!
